To borrow a quote from Matthew Hayden after he first saw Sachin: I have seen football’s God. He wears the number 10 for Argentina.

@velo

Mbappa has this and "possibly another?

This is Messi's 6th World cup at 38 and he will be 39 in 2 days. He has probably 1 left in him. The oldest player in this World Cup is 43.

This is Mbappe's 3rd WC and he is 27, not making 28 for another 6 months. Mbappe has at least 3 more in him...and these athletes keep playing longer and longer, so he could possibly play till 44... 4 more WC.

Yet he is already just 3 goals behind Messi. And Messi is having his best WC goals wise....but we know who the better goal scorer is against high competition.

Mon, Jun 22, '26 at 6:30 PM

Not to mention....Mbappe has been one of the best strikers of the ball this WC. He is taller than Messi yet his footwork is exceptional. Guy is so smooth o the ball its ridiculous.

Best striker for me currently.

Able to set up his shot like none other right now.

Fast like lightning, but still shares the ball around the goal.

Moves around constantly.

As long as i have watched, messi and Ronaldo always were lurkers.

Senegal keeps making mistakes after mistakes which lead to 2 Norway 🇳🇴 goals. Nor 2 - Sen 0

Senegal was not playing like they are a top team in Africa, however, they just scored a goal

Disappointing performance by Senegal…

@FanAttick

Yeah.. they could l’ve done much better if they’d started attacking earlier in the game and without so many mistakes that led to 2 goals

@FanAttick

Very, very disappointed in them. I knew it was a tough group but I that poor defensive display is unlike them. Maybe the drama surrounding the team off the field has negatively impacted their mental focus. This is a much better team than we have seen in this tournament, especially their defense.

@Cricket_101

I didn’t see the game. Maybe they were playing the percentage game knowing that there is a best third placed option at stake.??

@nitro

Agree. A colleague of mine from Senegal was at the game. During the Africa Federation’s championship, we talked a lot about Senegal and they are indeed a much better team than they’ve shown. I’ll try to watch the replay later today. I was traveling so I did not see the game. From what I’ve read, the defense fell down. I’m sure they knew Haaland’s signature play was to sneak in behind the defense for a thru ball. But like you said, maybe the pressure got to them. It also didn’t help that many of their hometown fans were denied visas.

@CricSham

Two critical turnovers just around their box in the first QTR yielded to goals, but in the second half they played brilliantly, scoring two beautiful goals and almost another in stoppage time...

Senegals goals were earned by playing "the beautiful game" top class build-ups. 2 of Norway's goals were horrific errors...giveaways.

Cristiano Ronaldo is on the board with a first half brace against Uzbekhistan….
