@FunnyMan
Glad to hear that your cousin is safe.
Its really sad.. one man lost his entire family (wife and three little kids)
A grandmother was travelling her 7 grandchildren... all are still missing.
Here is a story with a young mother who said that a stranger gave his life just for she and her little baby to survive

Jesus Chris's so the new boat should've been sailing to a new dock since December '23? Wow, gotta take back my words.
@Brerzerk
Apparently it arrived this year but hasn't sailed it's intended route as yet. Pictures have surfaced of it being used as a party boat (possibly for the haves & elites) but I can't confirm how true that is.

MV Malisha arrived in Guyana since 2023. This afternoon the Minister confirmed that the new vessel can't go to Port Kaituma because the port that they were constructing since 2023 failed and its currently being reconstructed. Here is a clip of its maiden voyage:

A second ship arrived last year (two identical used ones they purchased from Greece I think). One was added to the Parika to Supenaam route and the other one suppose to be for Region 1.
Here is a link for that story:

Not sure if the second vessel from Greece arrived. But the one from Greece is what the first lady usually uses for her fancy boat cruises in the Demerara river.
Update:
At this afternoon press conference. The PM said that they reconciled the records and its apparently 76 survivors instead of the 67 reported yesterday.
They recovered 53 bodies so far.
Thoughts and prayers, rip, poor people are treated like garbage in that corrupt land.
@Runs
good to see youn- even on this sad occasion.
i spent quite some time in the north west doing research way back when.
@anthonyp
they need diversion because this did not have to happen.
This administration is responsible for those dead people.
@anthonyp
di government should be charged fi manslaughter.
dem een give a damn.
@anthonyp
Thanks for the update bro.
We had a new boat... all the passengers thought on that maiden voyage that this is it now.... only to go back to the old boat and now... this horrible disaster. wow.
53+ dead... unimaginably sad.
All these talks about these new Ferries and they didn't get it done properly.
The one for Parika to Supernaam seems familiar.... I might have seen it this past February when I went there....
