Prime Minister Mark Phillips on Tuesday admitted that government had loaded several heavy items on the MV Barima, and said there appeared to be a “break down” in routine inspection of vessel before it left Georgetown for Port Kaituma last Saturday afternoon.
Asked whether, a part from the 87-year old vessel, whether government lost any cargo, he said the Public Works Ministry lost “some equipment, fuel, machinery” and All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). “All those things will be itemised as part of the whole investigative process,” he said.
The PM and Edgehill should resign pronto.

(Kaieteur News) – The death toll following the capsising of the MV Barima is now pegged at 103, following three days of search and rescue by the coast guard, Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed, owners of private vessels, and local fishermen.

Someone in Guyana said that the boat only had one engine that was working. many things are revealed after a disaster happens. In the Caribbean many risks are taken too often

Update:
- Survivors remains at 76
- bodies recovered increased to 65
Nobody knows how many more are out there... but the overall total already exceeds the initial figure given by the Minister for the number of persons that should have been on the vessel (116 passengers and 17 crew members).

The Guyana Police Force this morning filed 72 murder charges against the rescued Captain and a crew member from the MV Barima ferry tragedy, along with the Loading Superintendent from the Transport and Harbours Department.
The three men, 40-year-old Kevin Price, 42-year-old Rondell Dwayne Roberts, and 33-year-old Delon Granderson appeared in Court this morning and were remanded to jail following their brief appearance.
Granderson was the Loading Superintendent.

Some other updates...
- They promised the family members that they will cover the costs for burial. Gave a family a single coffin for two bodies (mother and daughter). When the family objected to this they told them that the bodies need to be buried and it can't postpone. A swamp was identified, a hold dug using an excavator and the coffin was placed inside. To top it off, they used the same excavator and fill the hole.. this was done in front of the Minister of Education. (Videos are all over social media)
- PM said that they can't recover the vessel. The opposition leader said that he will personally fund the recovery... now this afternoon de PM told the press that the decision to recover the vessel rests with the family members.
- The President named the members of the COI.. without consulting anyone.. now people are saying that members of the COI got direct link to the President and first lady.
