ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) are delighted to announce a T20 ‘A’ Team tour as part of their respective ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 preparations.

This historic series will be the first time a West Indies team has toured Nepal and will consist of five (5) T20 matches, all of which will be played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.

Miles Bascombe, CWI Director of Cricket commented,

"This A-team tour is another indication of the importance we are placing on A-team cricket and a significant phase in our preparations for the T20 World Cup. It gives us a final opportunity to see many of the contenders for a place in the squad who are not participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Even for those players who do not make the final World Cup squad they will be a part of the reserve pool. A hallmark of the 2016 T20 World Cup campaign was the ability of reserve players to come in and have an immediate impact so we must be ready for all eventualities. We also relish the opportunity to take the West Indies brand to Nepal for the first time, as cricket continues to grow in popularity there.”

Maybe this is all that is available as someone has to agree to host before you tour. Perhaps not may other nations are interested in having the West Indies right now ...

Not a waste at all. Any cricket is better than no circket. I wish they had announced this earlier as I would have loved to go to Nepal to support the team.

Great Match arrangement CWI, although Nepal might not be our most favoured opponent but our young players need international experience and match practice. Let’s face facts, that Nepal might offer greater competitive match practice than our own domestic tournament. The general idea is for our young players learning to play as a team, while working on their respective skill sets.

Nepal is exactly where Windies should be. It accepts how far down the great has fallen. We are truly now a minnow and Nepal will probably wash our skin. Can the top teams take us seriously after this? And to add insult to injury, the CWI announces that it will be a way for them to assess players for a possible place in the T20 World Cup squad.
Is the CWI serious? Are these people for real? No wonder our players run for the IPL money and leave the Windies team to the CWI.

I dont agree with you. An international match, even against a supposedly much weaker side, appears to be a better judge of players than either (i) no T20 cricket at all; (ii) T20 cricket played 7 months ago; and (iii) T20 cricket played in what is clearly a party atmosphere. This is moreso when our supposedly better T20 players are generally just warming a bench in the IPL

Remember that King was found while playing on WI B team against Canada, so it’s the application of the individual player.
