Roach playing this season? If so, did he fling down any of the county players? Or that eye pass is only for our regional tournament?

Roach is playing for Surrey.
This tread has all games that our players play in.
Go back through the posts.

Seales looks good. (some good returned, except second game)
Holder is so so. (great fielding, but low returns otherwise)
Roach looks under-cooked (done, at least thus far).

No problem Chrissy big grin

Jayden Seales is currently ripping through the Derbyshire batting...

Sussex, in reply to Derbs 1st Inns score of 246, were all out for 479. Jayden Seales was left agonisingly stranded on 4*, just 96 runs short of his maiden first class century lol

In their second knock, Derbyshire are in a whole heap of trouble at 81/6, with Jayden Seales taking 3/23. Derbs are still 152 runs adrift.

Derbyshire were rolled over for just 109, with Jayden Seales taking 5/29 (all of his wickets were LBW or bowled)

Sussex won by an innings & 124 runs. Jayden can put his feet up tomorrow...probably in thick wool socks!

Yes, they have started well...probably one of the best bets for promotion to division one. Jayden Seales opens the bowling with Lollipop Robinson...not a bad new ball pair.

Not to be a party pooper, but this is Division 2 of County cricket that we are talking about. JaySea could barely buy a wicket in our FC championship so we should probably temper our enthusiasm by the realisation that this may not be the highest possible level of first class cricket (if indeed it is first class cricket).

Well, respectfully I disagree. His 11 wkts at 24 in the recently concluded West Indies Championship certainly did not set pulses racing but they are far from dismal stats. Now, in the county game, he is doing very nicely in conditions that are far from comfortable for a typical Caribbean fast bowler. His bowling in the second innings of the victory against Derbyshire was at times, nothing short of special. He bowled at pace and had the ball reverse swinging late. Some of it was unplayable. His figures of 5/29 are actually his best in FC cricket. Remember that he is still only 22, with 37 test wickets at an average of just 24 (strike rate 42) in his first 10 matches. And his FC stats are also very impressive (85 wkts @ 23 in 26 matches). Currently, he leads the bowling stats for the County Championship Division 2.

He makes my test team if he continues to impress.

Then I am very happy for him but if we are comparing apples to apples, he was outbowled by 2 seamers in the Caribbean who are not getting the same chance to play in England. Leaving aside his obvious pedigree, is it fair to them to judge him on his performance in Division 2 when the others have put in the hard yards in the hot sun? Just trying to be objective.

37 test wickets at an average of just 24 (strike rate 42) in his first 10 matches.

I agree with you ....the above stat is pure malarky for the then 21yr old.

so he got those wickets playing "Test Cricket" ...so what.....

Seales definitely gine to Hingland and deservedly so.
But the issue is the starting 11 for 1st test.
Hard to pick him.

Yes, but has he bowled to any international English batsmen so far? Folks, let's be objective. I am happy for him that he is repaying Sussex for the faith they showed in selecting him but I am not celebrating wildly like some on this MB. Do we really think that Second Division English cricket is so many levels above our FC competition that we need to jump and wave for some wickets taken by a proven test bowler?

Therein lies our problem. We are focused on pace like fire instead of accuracy, swing and seam.
