Pitch Report:
The conditions are fantastic and we expect minimal dew tonight and that's great for both teams. Talking about the dimensions, it's 64m to my left and 65m to my right and it's a 75m hit downtown. Looking at the surface, I think it's going to be great for batting. It's hard, it's smooth and it is even on both sides with little grass, reckons Daren Ganga.

7:55 pm The atmosphere is electric, just as Hetmyer mentioned on the live feed! The crowd is pumped up for the biggest party in sport, and we are almost ready for the first ball of the most important match of the season. The umpires have entered the ground, followed by the men in maroon. It will be the usual procedure with Ben McDermott and Quinton Sampson to open the innings with the bat.

DaWolf: "TKR record when chasing this season - won 4, lost 1. TKR record when batting first - won 4, lost 3. GAW record when batting first - won 3, lost 3. GAW record when chasing - won 4, lost 1. Providence is 3/3 for teams batting first or second. With both teams being better chasing, is batting first a mistake? " It's a batting pitch according to the pitch report, and recently it has gotten tough to chase here at the Providence. Interesting choice from the Warriors, though.

I would like GAW to pull this off but the momentum is with TKR.

That Tahir won the toss but chose to bat first says he is supremely confident in his batting unit.

High Risk...I dont agree with his choice here

but lets see.

Massive wicket! The short ball trick has worked brilliantly! Another banged in short pitched ball attacking the stumps, Sampson tries to get away from the line of the ball but is slow to react, only manages to fend it down with the inside part of the bat. The short ball proves to be a problem for Quinton Sampson once again! He falls for a duck, as Kieron Pollard dives forward to take a low catch in front of him.

One dong

Russell to Quentin Sampson, out Caught by Pollard!! The short ball ploy against the youngster has worked! Russell is charged up and has a beaming smile on his face! Ottis Gibson, TKR's assistant coach, is also elated in the dugout! It's a sharp short delivery that's well-directed and it's seaming in towards Sampson. He is cramped for space and gets in an awkward position. He hops and fends at it but only manages to lob it towards forward short leg. Pollard gets low in front and takes it inches above the ground

Sampson has to learn how to get under the bouncer instead of trying to play it.
Hopefully he learns fast!
