Getting to Know Simon Crosskill

As the West Indies prepare to take on England in Jamaica for the 1st Test at Sabina Park, one could imagine the dilemma an English-born Jamaican might face when asked where his allegiance lies. However, Simon Crosskill is not one of those caught in a quandary for "never has it been with England". Crosskill, the Group Sports Editor for the Radio Jamaica Group has had a chequered life and we pick up his story in England.

W.I Umpire Reported Washington's Action

Chief executive officer of the WICB Roger Brathwaite on Tuesday confirmed that umpires in the Caribbean first class tournament made a request for the board take a look at Dwight Washington's bowling action.

"[T]here have been reports from umpires to the WICB on Washington and other players and one young player was reviewed without a report having been submitted. The Committee looked at videotapes of Washington's bowling this weekend and found no cause for concern," Brathwaite said.

Dwayne Smith Out with Finger Injury

The nasty injury bug has struck the West Indies again, just days before the start of the first test against England in Jamaica.

CaribbeanCricket.com correspondent Michelle McDonald reports that West Indies middle order batsman Dwayne Smith suffered a dislocation of the right ring finger during catching practice and will definitely miss the opening Test match.
