WICB ANNOUNCEMENT:
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has received the signed
acceptance of 14 players invited on the advice of its selectors,
for the tour to Sri Lanka. The latest invitations were accompanied
by Match/Tour Contracts, which all the players also have accepted
and signed.
The players selected are: Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Denesh Ramdin,
Daren Powell, Omari Banks, Kerry Jeremy, Deighton Butler, Sylvester
Joseph, Narsingh Deonarine, Dwayne Smith, Tino Best, Jermaine
Lawson, Xavier Marshall, Runako Morton, Ryan Ramdass

What's the real value of Digicel's sponsorship deal with the
West Indies Cricket Board? US$23 million? US$20 million? US$ 18.75
million? Or US$16.75 million?
The answer to that question remains a sticking point in the
contract talks between the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and the
players association and, although a tentative deal is in the works,
WIPA is asking for a signed copy of the master sponsorship deal to
help compute the players' cut.

Lawyers for the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) are
poring over the latest
WICB proposal to save the tour to Sri Lanka even as the board
warned that it was prepared to name second or third stringers as
replacements.
Late Tuesday, WIPA attorneys were locked in meetings to peruse
the
proposed amendment to Clause 5. A meeting of the WIPA executive
is scheduled for late evening to determine the next step.

5. Sponsorships and Endorsements
(a) The Player acknowledges that WICB has the sole and
exclusive right to arrange for sponsorship, advertising, licensing,
merchandising and promotional activities relating to WICB or any
WICB Team. (b) The WICB acknowledges that individual Players have
the sole and exclusive right to enter into their own individual
commercial contracts granting similar image rights as in Clause
5(a) other than as a West Indian Player and subject to Clause 5.1
and Clause 5.2

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has dispatched senior team
manager Tony Howard to Sri Lanka to try to get the 'A' team players
to fill in as replacements for the Test series but his efforts have
been unsuccessful, sources tell CaribbeanCricket.com.
Howard, who is part of the WICB secretariat's operations unit,
met with the 15-man squad at the Taj Samundra hotel in Colombo on
Sunday morning but only two players -- Tino Best and Kerry Jeremy
-- accepted.
