When Joey Carew approached a group of friends who had been travelling the Caribbean following cricket for sometime, with the offer of the use of the old “ School Boy” stand at the Queens Park Oval, little did he know it would change the face of cricket forever!!
The Old School Boy stand, which stood on the left of the media centre facing the pitch, was losing its appeal. No longer were the school boys from QRC, CIC or other nearby schools filling the seats.
The offer was if the group could fill those seats, they could put a mark up on the tickets sales. The first day saw over fifty seats sold and by the second ODI the stand was packed with friends, tassa, DJ, coolers, flags, nuts men, Carib seats and lots of fun. The official Trini Posse Stand was born!
The move created great excitement in some quarters and extreme dismay in others, “this simply was not cricket.”

Lendl Simmons, the West Indies batsman, has signed up for the Mumbai Indians after the IPL technical committee approved him as a replacement for Jalaj Saxena. Saxena had been ruled out the season after sustaining a finger injury in his right hand during a training session.
Simmons, who has played close to 100 international matches for West Indies, had a stellar season with Guyana Amazon Warriors in last year's Caribbean Premier League, where he emerged as the team's highest run-getter with 263 runs from nine matches at 33.25 to power them into the final, which they eventually lost against Jamaica Tallawahs.

Gros Islet, St. Lucia, CMC – Two promising batsmen, Jermaine Blackwood and Sunil Ambris, featured prominently with breakthrough hundreds before Jamaica claimed the Headley/Weekes Trophy with a tame draw against Windward Islands in the Final on Tuesday here.
Blackwood completed his maiden first-class hundred of 118, propping up the Jamaicans’ batting, as they were dismissed for 200 in their second innings about half-hour before lunch on the last day of the finale to the Regional 4-Day Tournament.

The entire executive of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) will meet with management and captains of the Red Force team today, as they continue their post mortem of this country’s performance during the Regional First Class tournament.
T&T finished second in the WICB President’s Cup and then lost to the Windwards in the semi-finals of the Headley/Weekes Trophy. The defeat against the Windwards left fans very unhappy as they went under by 234 runs, to the same team they defeated by 185 runs in the league phase.
President of the TTCB, Azim Bassarath revealed that he and his executive will meet with the two captains Rayad Emrit and Denesh Ramdin, as well as manager Manohar Ramsaran and coach Kelvin Williams at 6pm this evening.

A slew of brilliant indivi-dual performances shook the Headley/Weekes Trophy final to life yesterday, but a career-best spell from leg-spinner Damion Jacobs and Jermaine Blackwood's second half-century of the match put Jamaica firmly in charge against the Windward Islands.
Blackwood followed up his 94 in the first innings with an unbeaten 88 and defied a hat-trick from Kenroy Peters, as Jamaica reached 147 for seven in their second innings at the close on the third day of the finale to the Regional Four-Day Championship for an overall lead of 322.
