JOHN’S, Antigua – Co-hosts Trinidad & Tobago Red Force are expected to face a typically stiff challenge, when they open their defence of an expanded NAGICO Super50 Tournament against Combined Campuses & Colleges Marooners at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, the capital of their two-island republic.
The West Indies Cricket Board announced today the schedule for the Tournament which opens on Thursday, January 7 next year in Trinidad and St. Kitts. It will again be contested between eight teams, comprising the six territorial franchises, as well as the Marooners and an ICC Americas composite side.
A developing fourth-wicket partnership of 22 runs between Tajnarine Chanderpaul, not out on 39, and Raymond Reifer, on 12, will be aiming to add to the Jaguars lead of 176 runs on today’s third morning.

ICC Press Release: West Indies has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate in the first Test in Hobart, which Australia won by an innings and 212 runs on Saturday.
Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fine after Jason Holder’s side was ruled to be three overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.
In accordance with Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
As such, Holder has been fined 60 per cent of his match fee, while his players have received 30 per cent fines. If West Indies commits another minor over-rate breach in Tests within 12 months of this offence with Holder as captain, it will be deemed a second offence by Holder and he will face a suspension.
Holder pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.
The charge was laid by on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Ian Gould, third umpire Chris Gaffaney, all from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires, and fourth umpire Paul Wilson.
Rodney Bay, St. Lucia - The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is hosting itsregular quarterly meeting with its Directors (today and tomorrow) and theyhave acquired the services of noted counsel, Anthony Waddy Astaphan SC as anadvisor to look at the recommendations for the CARICOM final report ongovernance of cricket.
Astaphan made a presentation to the board of directors in the morningsession. A full paper will be prepared and will be available forpresentation to the Prime Ministers' committee. The way forward Astaphan says "will look at how both organizations can work together for the benefit of the improvement of cricket on and off and the field."
Astaphan is an experienced senior counsel and has served as a formerpresident of the Bar Association of Dominica.
HOBART, Tasmania – The management of the West Indies team today announced that fast bowler Shannon Gabriel has been ruled out of the ongoing Test Series against Australia in Australia.
The 27-year-old suffered a stress reaction in left ankle bone while bowling in the first innings of the first Test match at the Blundstone Arena in Hobart. He will return to Trinidad in the coming days to continue his rehabilitation. A replacement player will be named in the coming days.
