The Windies women have embraced interim coach Hendy Springer and the rest of the management staff as they ready themselves for a three match T20 Series against the touring Sri Lanka women here at the Coolidge Cricket Ground starting [tomorrow] Thursday.
This is according to manager Eugena Gregg who said the players are slowly getting past their dismal World Cup performance over a month ago. åç“Generally, the ladies have embraced the coaching staff. Sure, there may be areas that could be improved but we seem to have a very professional and harmonious relationship,” she said.
West Indies only managed wins against Sri Lanka and Pakistan at the World Cup, sides that finished below them.
They also slumped to their second-lowest total in women’s ODIs, when they were bowled out for 48 against South Africa.
However, the regional squad has seemingly moved past the embarrassing performance, blanking Sri Lanka 3-0 in the ODI series.
BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe—Kieran Powell and Kyle Hope got into gear with half-centuries, as West Indies had to settle for a draw with Zimbabwe “A” in their three-day, tour match yesterday.
Powell hit the top score of 77 and Hope made 61 – before they both retired – to allow the Windies to declare their second innings on 263 for five on the final day of the match at the Bulawayo Athletic Club.
Shimron Hetmyer gave the selectors a gentle nudge with 48, wicketkeeper/batsman Shane Dowrich battled for 37 not out and Jermaine Blackwood added 25, as they tried to gain valuable match practice in the only contest on the visitors’ schedule prior to the first Test against the hosts’ national side, starting on Saturday at the Queen’s Sports Club.
The West Indies bowlers also got a chance for a final run-out and reduced the “A” Team to 70 for four in their second innings, as they chased a highly improbable victory target of 457.
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The Selection Panel of Cricket West Indies announced on Tuesday a 13-member Windies Women’s squad for the three Twenty20 Internationals against Sri Lanka Women on October 19, 21 and 22 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
There is only one change to the squad – Britney Cooper replaces compatriot Reniece Boyce.

BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe, (CMC) – Batsmen Shai Hope, Roston Chase and Kraigg Brathwaite all gathered half-centuries as West Indies made a bright start to their tour of Zimbabwe here Sunday.
Opting to bat first on the opening day of the three-day tour match against Zimbabwe A, the Caribbean side ended on 301 for six with Hope top-scoring with 85, Chase stroking 79 and Brathwaite chipping in with 53.
Kyle Hope, Shai’s older brother, missed out on a half-century with 42 while seamer Michael Chinouya, who played his only two Tests against New Zealand last year, was the best bowler with two for 55.
In the only warm-up match before the first Test starting next Saturday, West Indies made the most of the outing with their main batsmen getting among the runs.
The West Indies women completed a 3-0 series sweep of Sri Lanka women in their three-match limited overs series at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba yesterday.
Wonderful batting by Stephanie Taylor and Hayley Matthews took the West Indies to 182 for seven of 45 overs and followed up by excellent bowling performances by Shakera Selman reduced the visitors to 141 all out, giving the host victory by 41 runs.
Taylor spanked 55 and the consistent Matthew 41 to take the West Indies to 182 for seven wickets of 45 overs. The match was reduced to 45 overs per side because of heavy early morning rain.
Set 183 runs, the Sri Lankans were expected to get over the line but not against a determined West Indian bowling unit. Selman put the West Indies immediately on top with a double strike including batting mainstay Chamari Attapatu. At 18 for two the West Indies were well on their way but a stubborn partnership between Yashoda Mendis and Dilani Manodara that took them past the 50-run mark.
