Guyanese batsmen Steve Massiah and Clayton Lambert have combined
to propel the U.S. to a big win over Namibia in the ICC Six Nations
Challenge competition being held in Sharjah.
In two matches so far, Massiah has posted scores of 72 and 92
not out while Lambert's two half centuries have helped prop up the
U.S. middle order.
The back, shoulders and knees are the areas that are most
vulnerable to injury when playing cricket. Thus, any conditioning
program for cricketers must address this. Back injuries were
discussed in
part one.
In this installment, I'll discuss shoulder and knee injury
reconditioning.
CaribbeanCricket.com's untiring reporter Michelle
McDonald caught up with Jamaica and West Indies' Chris Gayle on the
eve of his first full match as captain of Jamaica.
In this in-depth interview, Gayle talks about his African tour,
his health, the stresses of playing professional cricket, and gives
an insight into the man himself.
The 16-man team announced by the West Indies cricket selectors
for the series against England is the usual mixture of sanity and
madness. Perhaps that convergence is our Caribbean lot. However, to
their credit this time around there is more sanity than
madness.
The sanity lies in the axing of Merv Dillon, Vasbert Drakes and
Daren Ganga. Dillon and Drakes had overspent their time. They
really have no place in the team, given the fact that there are
other fast bowlers around who, though raw, can at least take
wickets.
According to a report in the Jamaica Observer, Jamaican
allrounder David Bernard Junior is facing charges of using indecent
language following an incident where the cricketer was denied entry
to Sabina Park by a security guard who did not recognise him.
Citing an unnamed eyewitness, the report says that Bernard Jr
did not have his pass and was initially denied admission, but was
then cleared by another guard. The eyewitness stated that a
policeman then involved himself and berated Bernard and an exchange
of words followed.
