The best method in my opinion, might be for Sammy to pick his best team, then select the captain from the players on the team.

That's the problem with WI... your captain should be someone who makes the team on merit.

None of the players on that list earned that right as yet. So why should we make them captain?

Also, what makes de likes of Warrican, Campbell, Greaves etc. good captains?

1. Warrican - I have never seen him captain a team so I cannot comment.
2. Campbell - has been an astute captain for Jamaica, excellent field settings and bowler usage.
3. Greaves - see Warrican.

That said, it will not matter who gets the job, this thing rots from the head.

it is stupidity or naivety to think that any team is picked without consideration given to whom could likely be cappo

or that because a person is the only one who can make the team on merit (whatever that means) automatically he should be cappo

i think in this instance Sammy is going about it the right way

interview a set of players he or his team think can be potential cappos and go from there

Accordingly to Mason , Sammy was not part of the panel that selected the candidates for captain. It was conducted by 2 former WI captains and an English soccer official.

Do you watch the bartender here to see if they spike your drink?

It has to be assumed that all these 6 players..... interviewing for cappo......are automatic selected for Australia tour...it would be beyond any logic.....after failing in captain test....any of the 6 players....not selected in main squad..

calm down Joe, you give 3 important skills that a captain should have and stated that Campbell has them, these are 3 indicators of a captain that is more likely to be successful. A captain with those skills you mentioned will some eventual win games and become a good captain. It appears from your postings that you will be satisfied with Campbell as the next captain.
