Director of Cricket at Cricket West Indies (CWI), Miles Bascombe, has admitted that the region is not generating enough high-level coaches, and that plans are afoot to restructure its coaching education system.

Speaking during a press conference on Monday following the conclusion of a two-day emergency meeting, Bascombe said CWI had hired a consultant to help address the issue as a short-term fix.

However, he revealed that a complete revamp of the coaching education system was in the works.

“So our coaching education system is probably one of the things from very early. I recognised that we were not producing the level of coaches that we would want to ideally, based on the certification programme.

Hold on.

You completely revamping the coaching education system in the region because the region isn’t generating enough high level coaches.

Yet you hire someone to initially be head coach of white ball, and then subsequently also appoint the same individual as head coach of the test men’s senior teams, who has ZERO certification??

And allyuh want to be taken seriously?

“Do as I say but not as I do?”

Why the 27 all out matter?
If it was 100 all out would that make a difference?

It was a potential issue but clearly there were other factors involved

It could be the other cold hard truth most ppl here don't want to accept....Sammy was the most qualified

Coaching certification is just one aspect. There are others that Sammy checked off, and he already has a level 2 certification, so its really a non issue now

His other qualifications were deemed more impressive than a couple months certification program

How could one be the "most qualified" when they did not meet the requirements for the job?

Ey this message board really got some special ones... lol

This is likely just another charade-this pronouncement by Bascombe.

Because, in West Indies cricket it is evident that coaching certification, however impressive, will always be trumped by the right passport.

Partner... you alright? They ever tested yuh?

Sooo let me get this clear... a man who is not qualified and did not meet the requirements for the job is the "most qualified" but the others who met the requirements aren't?

his certification was his only issue, thats what the big stink has been about, this is not some office job that HR need to file the proper paper work.........others had the certification, but lacked what ever else sammy has.....yall just too blinded by hate to see that sammy is one of the most interesting figures in the history of west indies cricket

fast bowler, injured, came back as a line and length bowler, eventually an all rounder captain, 2 time winning world cup captain....retires, becomes captain of a franchise team overseas, impressive enough that he gets made head coach, becomes white ball coach, eventually a red ball coach.......to discard sammy is a detriment to a region that has an insane amount of brain and experience drain

I strongly suggest that you get your eyes tested, don't you see the handle of the man you're arguing with?

I fully endorse your position!

The Golden Child has the most important document that the others lacked- a passport of the right colour!!

You Are Shameless Sir!
Please read the job specs
What requirements for qualification and experience it asks for?
Oh the irony and timeliness of Bascombe's Bull Pucky! For the good of WI cricket I'm hoping proud0layers step up to ensure this series win is not an anomaly.

to windward islanders and bajans.....its disappointing with barbados because they were the 1st or second strongest region in cricket for a large portion of the post WWII era........unlike the windwards who were nonsense in cricket
