WOW! What I saw on NBC nightly news was utter destruction in ST Elizabeth. Santa Cruz where I use to hangout many a weekends is unrecognizable. Where did all that mud come from.

Jamaicans will always provide a little levity though – this man point to his groin and told a reporter the water was up to that level in his house and he had to swim to get out alive.

@Chrissy

Glad that you are safe. I am really hoping it is not 50 deaths. It seems like the media is reluctant to even confirm 4 deaths in st Bess. 50 would be just tragic. The pics of st Bess and cave valley are awful. I go through cave valley from spaldings on the way to the north coast. Some of my Manchester peeps

had some damage but nothing like st Bess.

There is devastation all over the island - outside of Kingston, St Andrew, St Mary and Portland.. the worst is coastal SW but this Cat5/cat4 monster then tore across the island and exited in St James.

contemplate 16 ft of water coming at your board house then factor in the wind and add the days of slow rain.

Rural Jamaica just got hit with its worst hurricane ever.

@FanAttick

Manning High School mash up bad.

STETHs mash up bad

Black River High mash up

Mobay Sports ground mash up.

@Chrissy

Be thankful that the major population centers on the southeast of the island escaped Melissa's eye. That would have crippled the country.

@Walco

St. Bess...The Food Basket. Real productive people

Thu, Oct 30, '25 at 3:31 PM

@Brerzerk

I am aware. Those farmers in St. Bess will need a lot of help. But I suspect many crops and livestock all over the island were lost to Melissa.

Thu, Oct 30, '25 at 3:59 PM

@Walco

leh me put it this way if Melissa had taken Gilbert’s route Morant Point to Negril, there would be no communications with dis island all now. Tens of thousands of peeps would be dead.

Thu, Oct 30, '25 at 6:51 PM

@Chrissy

I just told a lot of people that same thing. Point to Point would have wiped the Island virtually off the map.

Much to be thankful for ,really. It could have been much much worse.

@hubert

indeed bro but dis is real real bad in parts of the south West and north west.

Body count rising by the minute.
