I just dont get it. Am not familiar with the laws oon fouls in the game....the defender had direct access to the ball and went down to play a sweep. The offensive player sticks his foot in there and prevents the defender from playing the ball.

They both go down.

Yeah i see that....but at what point are you making an unsafe play that results in you getting kicked? If this is the way such a play is adjudicat3d legally, then that seems odd to me.

I don't know what's odd about it...seems consistent from what I have seen so far. Granted, there are situations where they don't even refer obvious penalties to VAR.
