Daley all-round efforts lift Windies to series win

LUCAS STREET, Barbados (CMC) — Shanel Daley's spirited all-round performance fired West Indies Women to a handsome 45-run over victory over Sri Lanka Women under the Duckworth/Lewis method, in the third and final One-Day International here yesterday, securing for the hosts a 2-1 series win.

The 23-year-old left-hander stroked a responsible 61 as West Indies, sent in to bat at the Windward Cricket Club, finished on 168 for seven after rain disrupted the innings and forced a reduction in overs to 40.

Since the Kingston Test of February 2009, when England collapsed for 51 and lost to West Indies bt an innings, England have gone from weakness to strength

West Indies subsequently have played 30 Tests — and won two, one of them against Bangladesh. So in the last three years they have effectively won one Test, at a Guyanese ground aptly called Providence, where they caught Pakistan before they had acclimatised on a big turner.

Clarke takes five in 75-run victory

In the end, the final day of the tour followed the same script as the rest of the series: West Indies fought hard and provided Australia with a few headaches, but their efforts came to nought. Instead, Michael Clarke's second five-wicket haul in Tests helped the Australians wrap up a 75-run victory and they took the series 2-0, despite some powerful striking from the West Indies captain Darren Sammy.
