The ‘Spice Isle’ will kick off the “Biggest Party in Sport” by hosting the opening of CPL
Thursday, 8th May 2014 – St. George’s, Grenada: Carnival cricket fever hits the beautiful island of Grenada with the announcement that the National Cricket Stadium will host the launch and opening round of games of the 2014 Limacol Caribbean Premier League (CPL), from Friday 11th July, with all six teams in action over the first weekend.
The CPL, which thrilled sell-out crowds in six countries across the Caribbean in 2013, is once again looking to excite fans with high intensity T20 cricket for the 2014 tournament. Grenada, known for its vibrant culture and hospitality, will serve as the opening venue to showcase the region’s most exciting domestic Twenty20 tournament. Global stars including Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Kevin Pietersen and Muttiah Muralitharan will take part in the “Biggest Party in Sport”.

Rumors have been swirling around that the West Indies selectors are contemplating the appointment of Trinidad and Tobago skipper Denesh Ramdin to captain the West Indies in the upcoming home series against New Zealand, however the T&T wicketkeeper said he has not been contacted by the regional selectors about it.
“Nobody has contacted me. Everybody has been calling me today (yesterday) but I don’t know anything about that,” Ramdin told the Express yesterday.
Ramdin did say however that he would relish the opportunity to lead the regional Test team.

Kieron Pollard and Mitchell Starc have been fined for their heated altercation during the match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday. Pollard lost 75 per cent of his match fee while Starc was penalised 50 per cent by match referee Andy Pycroft.
Both players admitted to level II offences under the IPL’s code of conduct, under which the penalties for a first offence range from a fine of between 50-100 per cent of match fee and/or a suspension of up to two matches.

St John’s, Antigua – In a move designed to open up more high performance cricket opportunities for United States players, and accelerate cricket development in the USA, the West Indies Cricket Board and USACA today announced a long term joint partnership.
As part of the partnership, a member of the WICB Board of Directors will sit on the USACA board. This will facilitate, among other things, the exchange of higher performing players from USACA member leagues and clubs into WICB development programs. In addition, USACA’s new Chief Executive Officer will have a position on the WICB’s Chief Executive Committee to help develop stronger economic best practices going forward for the US market.

West Indies superstar Kieron Pollard was involved in an incredible incident with Australian international Mitchell Starc during their IPL match.
Royal Challengers Bangalore strike bowler Starc was bowling to Mumbai Indians big-hitter Pollard in the opening innings of the match in Mumbai, and with Pollard going along well on 29 it seems frustration got the better of the Aussie.
