BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Captain Leon Johnson stroked his second successive half-century as Guyana Jaguars won their third straight with an easy six-wicket triumph over Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners here Friday night.
Set a straightforward target in the day/night affair at Kensington Oval, Jaguars got home with 25 balls remaining to continue their revival after losing their opening two games of the Regional Super50 last week.

West Indies Under-19 held off Kent by 28 runs in a low-scoring contest at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium to record their first win of the Regional Super50. Sent in to bat, West Indies Under-19 were bowled out for 155 in 46.3 overs. They then spun out Kent for 127 in just 34 overs, with 16-year old left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop taking 4 for 44.
Leeward Islands vs Trinidad & Tobago
Trinidad & Tobago produced a tremendous fightback to win a thriller by 11 runs over Leeward Islands at Coolidge. Defending 226, they appeared well out of the game after a 115-run opening stand by Leewards captain Kieran Powell and Montcin Hodge. But the wicket of Powell in the 27th over, stumped after being unable to reach a ball dragged wider outside off stump by left-arm spinner Khary Pierre, sparked a slide which resulted in Leewards losing all ten wickets for 100 runs and slump to their first loss of the tournament.
FORMER WEST Indies cricket team all-rounder and coach Phil Simmons has been appointed as a technical consultant coach by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), according to a post on the Pajhwok Afghan News website yesterday. The 53-year-old, who was recently named as coach of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) team St Kitts/Nevis Patriots, was fired as WI coach last September due to “differences in culture and strategic approach”, six months after overseeing the regional team’s successful campaign in the World T20 in India.
