not sure Golding is the correct one to carry the banner. the "Markie G" thing comes off contrived. IMHO, only the dread, Damion Crawford can counteract Holness. yes, i know he lost to Ann marie vaz in Portland, but i am not seeing anyone else that can excite.

It will be a very close one. The SW & SE St. Bess likely to decide the outcome. With those seats JLP looking at 33.

I hear that Miranda leading Floyd in SW based on internal polls. It is going to be a heated one.

From my vantage point, I don't see a close one. The PNP is not offering stark
differences to the JLP on some key issues...Jamaica's Highest Court should no
longer be in Britain and not in CARICOM. But of Jamaica's own making...
A 15th Parish for Portmore should not be entertained. That should be a City as
mooted by the PNP way back when. Foreign possession of our best beaches should not
be appropriated to the denial of Jamaicans. A different paradigm should not be ownership
but long term leases renewable after 50 years or so.
The land resources are the Jamaicans' .
What is new, innovative or sustainable that the PNP is offering to make Jamaicans better ?
Will there be much better roads, potable water all over the country and no more pit latrines
anywhere and will A1 agricultural lands be reduced to concrete for housing etc while
food imports continue to bleed foreign exchange ?
I won't even mention sports/facilities proper infrastructure that should be normal in
every parish. With Wavel Hinds earmarked for Sports ministry that's a loser right there. lol
The PNP should be far more vocal about old school buses by Vaz and which are not be allowed
in Jamaica to drive on on the Left side of the road in contravention of Road safely laws.
And will the PNP address the Flag issue ? There should not be any other color on any flah but Black,Gold and Green,
but the Iconic Flag has been boasting a White Hoist, domestically and Internationally. The hoist should be BLACK.
When one allows the national symbols to be tarnished in such a blatant way, what does that say about
Leadership. ?
I have no confidence in any PNP govt and much less in JLP. So I guess there will be no change.lol
After 63 years, JAMAICA is still to be Independent. Still being run by Britain with assist from CARICOM . Who that ?
And the country still does not embrace big time Ties to Africa.

This is the problem with those of you who DON'T LIVE here. The PNP were FIRST out the gate on the school buses and they were told they were being bad mind nlt just by Labourites but by ppl on social media. They need say little now as ppl are seeing the buses FAIL in real time.

The PNP layed out through its spokespersons, the LOO and social media it's plans. It's held Town Halls laying out plans, discussion fora on education and the economy, it has proposed govt standing the deposit for homeowners buying through the NHT, it has proposed a 9 billion fund for farmers to supply food for the school feeding programme, it has proposed extensive road repair and rehabiliation with oversight and report by HEART students/graduates and UWI/ UTECH with the necessary skills to ensure value for money. They proposed special classes for students struggling at school or would be unsupervised to be done by University students or teachers who choose to do so who will be compensated. It has proposed a FULL scholarship to university for the FIRST child in any family to get a degree. It has proposed a 4yr vocational pathway that also allows for University entrance through getting Level 4 HEART certification. It has proposed providing shadows for autistic children, increased testing facilities for students with special education needs. It has proposed a fund for farmers from the current duties on imported agricutural items. It has proposed paying for students struggling for rural transportation by providing a direct subsidy. It has also proposed a subsidy for poor students who are not on path. It has proposed a 1 billion dollar fund for the creative & cultural industries. It has proposed that the IC should be able to give more info and that all declarations from the Executive will be made public. It has just held another meeting with people with disabilities. Individual spokespersons and candidates are on TikTok. Interviews have been given to traditional media nad Tik Tokers. They have proposed returning garbage collection to the municipalities. They have proposed re-startting the Constitutional reform process for more public date. They have proposed making Jamaican Creole an official language beside English and making Miss Lou & Bob Marley national heroes. They have proposed changing the beach control act to allow Jamaicans access to beaches. These are the ones I can remember so I'm not going to have people going out there as if people have just been sitting on their hands. Once the date is announced the manifesto will follow. But EVERY mass and other rally has had reminders of policy proposals and tbf the tradional media has reported it.

Obviously I can't tell you that this means a PNP victory. After all we know 1980. But it is one of the indicators of how the BASE feels. The PNP's base is now in a similar position to the JLP's base back in 2007. Will it be enough? Only election day will answer that.

So because I don't live on the Island I don't know anything ?
All the things you outlined are commendable, but were not all these things
in existence during the long reign of the PNP through PJ and Portia ?

These two are proposals, promises to be seen become reality. So what do they propose to do with
Jamaica's Highest Court ???Still Brits or Caricom. ?
What do they prose to about skills training and eradicating illiteracy to move the many youngsters
to better jobs ?
Patois has its place but one of ,if not the main re3ason for poor reading ability is the wide acceptance
and use of Patois that kids cannot relate it to standard English which used to be the First language of
the Land and the Major Language of the World. If you don't believe this, don't board an aircraft.
Anyway there are many things that need to be concretised in any platform and they must be geared to
th upliftment of the people.
Joshua's free education mantra did not work out. And hearing about extending school hours for overburdened
and poorly paid teachers does not seem the way to go.
Deploying very qualified teachers in specialist areas should be foremost with the extensive use of
technology where one teacher on TV or such can reach many and follow up work and assignments done with regular
classroom teaches.
It means equipping all schools with the technology to receive such instructions.
I know the challenges of educating Jamaican children. Teaching was my first profession and included serving as Principal.
Talk is cheap, especially on political platforms and manifestos. It aint new.
But I wish for a change in Jamaica. I just don't see it. Right now the Reactive is over powering real reality and practicality.
But I wish your and my Born Party well . Does it have the nouse ????
Or will it be the same old same old in different colour ?????
Walk good as Louise Bennett or some others would say. We shall see.big grin

BTW, I hope my Parish ,St. Mary, once the bastion of Green power will set the stage with a sweep.
From my sources,it looks much better than others. My sources are comparable in quality than many who still
carrying buckets of water on their heads throughout the Little Jam Rock/////
So how many seats will your winner gets.?

First an firemost scholarswill tell you ACROSS the Caribbean, that students need to be taught in their FIRST language FIRST which has been successfully used in Curaçao because CREOLE is the FIRST language of MOST Caribbean students and it is WHY they struggle with English. This applies even to little England. I NEVER put out my personal predictions on elections in public EVER. I will say THIS based on LOCAL GOVT election results in 2024-Westmoreland should be fine. They actually WON the Clarendon Parish Council, they won all or almost all the divisions in Eastern St. Thomas, East Rural St. Andrew, East St. Andrew, West Rural. Manchester seems good and a Bluedot/JLP poll earlier this yr which had the JLP leading by 4% nationally had Bobby trailing by 18%nationally. There is a purported internal JLP poll doing the rounds which looks poor for them but in election time, I remain sceptical. Dayton Campbell forecasts 40 seats as does a gentleman on youtube forecasting various seats-I do not know him or of him so cannot vouch for his accuracy. I know the PM told his people that a 3rd term is not guaranteed and they are starting to repeat it on social media when earlier they were all repeating 3rd term loading. I have my own thoughts and while I have got most times right, I have got two wrong but I am sorry I am not prepared to say. I will cast my vote and see what happens. All I can say for certain is that Golding is my MP and there are more orange flags than I have ever seen them. Last year's local govt election had more orange flags than in 2020. I was up in Chuck's constituency in March and was stunned by the no of orange flags there. I know that in East St. Andrew there are about an equal number of billboards for both Fayval Williams & Patricia Duncan-Sutherland going up Munroe Road and Mona Rd to UWI and beyond-all the way past UHWI and on Old Hope Road down to Campion. Seeing lots of orange flags too in East Central and South East St. Andrew but these are all seats the PNP holds. All I can say is that in these 3 places the last time I saw that many flags was in 2011. I can also say in 2020 East St. Andrew had hardly an orange flag or billboard in sight. Even in my own constituency and the adjoining ones-orange flags were few and far between in 2020. All of this is purely anecdotal and since I know of 1980 & the crowd though I was far too young then to know anything, I wait to see if these anecdotes meant something or nothing.

It is an uphill fight for the PNP. The JLP is well endowed financially and they have the expertise and relevant
gimmicks some historical to get the votes. That has not changed in Jamaica.
The one man that made the JLP look pathetic was PJ and before him to some lesser extent was DK. They
knew how to organize and capture the people. PJ was very special in that way.
Pity his long tenure did not result in more positive ways for the People. And quite frankly I do not know if he was totally honest,
if you get my drift.lol
Portia had no credentials to lead any country.
I like Mark Golding, knowing his Pappy and his family as upstanding decent folks. Jamaica does not have to worry
about integrity ,financial or anything. He is from solid good roots.Politically he might be more Norman Manley though
so he needs a tough street smart people around him and he has to learn fast. But does he have such people
who can aid him to be more charismatic and exciting . That counts but most important he has to inspire people
and come up with big ideas to motivate them and which he can implement. He needs something that the JLP
would never think of.
Speak to money owed by Britain and what specific problems he will solve in the first 3 years, 5 years and 10 years.
What are the three or four most critical problems facing the people and what they want to see solved.
Hardly any administration has ever solved any critical problem in Jamaica.
Perhaps he can't and should not address certain specifics, but Jamaica and especially the Parish of Kingston needs
rebuilding. Too many squalor and ever place a market. Kingston is too beautifully situated to have slums and run down places
and zinc fences in too many places still. The heart of the City downtown needs upliftment.
Would a subway system not be helpful as a long term 10 year program. Britain owes us for slavery and they should
be made to build three lines in KSA...one from Manor Park to Norman Manley via CS Rd,HWT Rd,Cross Roads ,St. William Grant Park, under the Harbour to NM.
Another from 6 Miles through downtown,Windward Rd,Harbour View to Bull Bay and a third from Portmore via Hagley Park, HWT ,Hope Rd, Old Hope Rd to Papine/ UWI.
The British should provide everything, expertise, necessary power supply, equipment, Training of Jamaican workforce in all capacities and maintenance for at least 50 years.
No Jamaican ,especially the quick fingered politicians should see a penny of that money, lest there be temptation for the dishonest( and there will certainly be some of whatever
Party) to be enriched by our Ancestors Labours.
That would be something eh. ??
This would be mean very high employment and very good jobs for the younger generation.
But then again I am dreamer. I spoke to this in the early 70s to reach the ears of Michael Manley through his running trainer/partner,Aris. Don't know
if it got to him.
The Roads of Kingston and in many towns are not adequate for the volume vehicles and have been for years and getting more critical. Toll Roads have
their place. But is not for all especially the poor or those aspirants to a more comfortable and affordable transport system.
The need for school buses would not be so acute with an efficient rail system especially in a metro area of KSA and Portmore.
And less we forget, PJ dropped the ball when he spoke of rebuilding the rural rail system following hurricane Gilbert. That gave rise to a new industry,Scrap iron
exports lol The little Rock which had a Railway system from the 1840s and put to shame Big countries in the Hemisphere ,should not have descended to such
pathetic outcome.
But as I say, I am dreamer.
We must build up, under and through as well as above ground. Jamaica can be developed if there its leaders dream big,be innovative, honest, wise
visionary.
But I am a dreamer. And BTW, the Three new heroes should be Bob,Bolt and Shelly Ann Frazer Price. They are know the world over. Miss Lou ?
Maybe. But who knew her and what impact internationally and locally did she have. ?
Just my two cents. And i am not broke.big grin

Most important all students from Kindergarten to University will ride free for at least 5 years and all Senior Citizens all the time on a System that must in no way be inferior to the British Tube in London.
And then I woke up lol

What will determine is how fed up with the JLP people are. Again anecdotal-one colleague who admits to NEVER voting says she has to vote him OUT-Andrew another says she's heading early to her parish to vote so she can vote AGAINST Andrew whatever the results may be and another-fmr Labourite says she WILL NEVER vote JLP as long as Andrew is leader. Too corrupt. Additionally, public sector wage negotiations are underway and NOBODY is happy given that they are offering ZERO percent in yr 1 & 7.5% over FOUR yrs and this is reminding everyone of the 300% increase they gave themselves. If you want better ideas about the landscape check Christine. She was spot on in 2011 and was unsure about 2016 & 2020. Jamaica has only given a party 3 terms ONCE and since 2007, there were two ONE term govts. This is the FIRST two term govt since. Are we back to what Carl Stone described as the two term syndrome. When Peter Espeut is calling for you to be voted OUT-those are interesting times.

Yes. Being fed up is a trump card(no pun) for the PNP. They need to ratchet up corruption and the lack
of integrity by the JLP. They should not ease up with this. I have read and heard and told about such sentiments especially from my
sources in my born Parish St. Mary.
That is not an easy Parish which once elected a totally illiterate person in the 40s. lol
But when Claude Stewart won in 1955 for the PNP, he did ok too and repeated. But people from that once prosperous Parish when Banana
was King and being shipped from Oracabessa and added to a coconut factory at nearby Jacks River that produced soap, oil and other things,
the people turned again and split seats became common thereafter sometime before the two seats became three constituencies.
But the mood I am getting there is positive. Not much as been done or accomplished well...the Junction road is sore point still
so when people are fed up, the button must be pushed hard, long and often.
I wish the PNP all the luck but it will be an uphill task...more than monkey money will be play and that sadly has become the bottom line .
Big turnout above high 50s per cent or much higher will work in PNP's favour.

That sir is the answer. Jlp is in power so they have the money to buy election. With all the misuse of government funds, and integrity questions, people SHOULD be well fed up. But I am not sure they are. If they want change then they can’t be apathetic. You need a large turnout to change power.

How come no one mentions that Jamaica’s crime/murder rate is the lowest it’s been in many years? I’m apolitical and find the political tribalism silly, but that is the the biggest problem we face as a country. We can’t solve anything else without fixing this issue. The people I know in the force say the biggest difference is that they are working closer with the communities and are given license and resources to go after the gunmen, who know and fear this. Of course they are still corrupt but for a while there we were turning into Somalia. We have to start somewhere and this is a big win in my book. The JLP stays. No need to usher a more incompetent set of crooks who are going to lead to another downward spiral.

Even so, the fact that we have major crimes down is more important right now. Talk to anyone out there. We can’t solve everything overnight and it won’t help to change everything with another more incompetent set of politicians. Thats going to set us back another decade. We were in dire straits, so you have to take some bad with the good. The way Jamaica operates, I always thought it needs a strong visionary dictator to stamp out the evil and corruption but we all know that won’t happen. Anyway that’s neither here nor there. A lot of us feel safer now going there and doing business, which will benefit everyone. And if you really want to go there the other huge difference inflation, which tends to be much much worse under the pnp.

What is large? In 2020, 21% of the voting population showed up and it's COVID. 21% only of the population coming out ain't happening. The PNP has been out of power 8yrs and THEIR base and even some well thinking Labourites are FED UP with the thieving. The ENTIRE public sector is unhappy. Heck even taxi drivers who are often a strong Labour group are fed up. PNP has DELIBERATEDLY targetted them by going to taxi stands and holding a reasoning with them. Just like the held an Education forum earlier in the year, had youth fora and a youth rally and had meetings with the disabled community. This along with the typical house to house & mass rally. The policies they have proposed& expressed seem microtargeted with each policy focused on a different subset of the population. The JLP will always have money but the PNP doesn't seem short. Mark went on a few overseas trips to fundraise from PNP diaspora. They are running radio & tv spots which they weren't doing this early in 2020. The campaign strategy is very different from what I'm used to seeing. It's the typical house to house & mass meetings but it's also holding town halls, forums and reasonings and using social media to mobilise, drop snippets reminding ppl about policy plans. They are using Twitter, IG, TikTok. They are also using SM to talk about legacy-PJ, Portia, Michael, Daddy Manley. The JLP has attacked Mark on race, British citizenship-the latest is that his shirt doesn't have enough green and that he is allergic to green- oh alleging that he was involved with his wife while he was an adult & she a child- what do you know about the JLP and in what types of situations do they get this nasty hmm? Oh the PM calling PNP supporters in Central Kingston deplorables after they created a situation to allege the MP got shot at.
