cricket in the Caribbean region.

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) must also be more centrally
involved in the administration of cricket in the Region in the
areas which are of the greatest importance. It must for example,
supervise what is going on in each territory so that matters such
as financial planning, the medical condition of the players of the
Region, the nurturing of the 'A' Team, and the question of coaching
can be adequately addressed.
The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has written to the WICB asking
for an immediate "evaluation" of the performance of head coach
Bennett King, suggesting that the million-dollar investment in the
all-Australian coaching staff isn't paying off.
"We are calling for a review of the coach's performance and
challenging that US$1 million a year investment," GCB spokesman
Terry Holder told CaribbeanCricket.com. "It just isn't
working and it doesn't appear that it will work."

As the New Year begins, West Indian Cricket supporters and the
region as a whole must be thinking what we can do to restore our
team to the heights it once knew and rekindle the pride and dignity
in the unifying unit which the West Indies Cricket Team represents.
I therefore thought it would be a good thing if I can set down some
ideas as to how this can be achieved.
Ryan Hinds has always been a praying man, but even if he wasn't,
the many unfortunate episodes in his short career would have caused
him to get down on his knees. Successful performances at the
under-19 level led to him being hailed as the next best player to
emerge. However, we are yet to see the quality of performances that
in 2000, players like Desmond Haynes and Ian Bishop predicted would
come from him.
That's because Hinds' career has sputtered; stopping and
starting like a car in need of a good tune up. Unlike others whose
inconsistencies have been much a result of their own doing, Ryan
Hinds has been dealt an unlucky hand through injury, illness and
man-made acts. These have interrupted his career at the most
inopportune times.
Former West Indies captain Jimmy Adams will replace Roger Harper
as manager of the West Indies Under-19 squad.
According to information reacing CaribbeanCricket.com,
Adams will join the squad and work alongside coach Roddy Estwick to
prepare the teenagers for the 2006 ICC Youth World Cup in Sri
Lanka.
