We are asking the women's whereabouts because we know they are
absent. We know the men are present, but we also need to ask where
they are too, in terms of locating their position on the map, so
that we can see where they stand in relation to the women, and vice
versa.
There is no real value in discussing the location of one sector
of our society in a vacuum. Such a discussion holds too much
potential to remain merely divisive and unable to provide us with
the picture we need to help us to frame our thoughts on how we
travel into our future.
In Dominica, the average sports fan, more so cricket fans, will
be elated come December 2006, the carded end of construction of the
Windsor Park Sports Stadium. The stadium is a gift worth EC$33
million, from The People's Republic of China to the government and
people of Dominica.
The mostly cricket stadium located in downtown Roseau will be of
International Cricket Council (ICC) international standard and will
accommodate state-of-the-art facilities featuring 10,000 seats, a
media centre, practice nets, players' complex, digital score boards
and five cricket pitches.

Brian Lara was named captain of the West Indies team for the
immediate future. No vice-captain was identified. The squad was
also picked and a final deal for retainer contracts was also

The WICB and WIPA have reached agreement on retainer contracts
for between 8 and 12 West Indies cricketers.
A source close to the West Indies Cricket Board told
CaribbeanCricket.com that both sides signed off on the deal
after a marathon negotiating session Tuesday that ended at 4:30
a.m. on Wednesday.
West Indies head coach Bennett King has dismissed as outrageous
and absolutely false, media reports which claim that he described
former players as "dinosaurs."
"This is completely and totally inaccurate, it's an outright
lie," King said in a statement released by media liaison Imran
Khan. "I've worked with former players here in the West Indies and
all over the world and I have the utmost respect for their
outstanding contributions to the game as players and what they can
provide to players now."
