An enthusiastic holiday crowd of over 10,000 packed under - and on - the trees that surround the cricket ground of Shimoga's Jawaharlal Nehru College of Engineering, but what happened on the field of play didn't match their enthusiasm. The pitch was pancake flat and slow, the disheartened India A bowling a little listless, and the fielding poor. However, West Indies A balanced it out by throwing away wickets, not taking full advantage of three dropped catches, and failing to convert two half-centuries into hundreds. They ended at 283 for 6 with Kraigg Brathwaite and Assad Fudadin scoring fifties, and Leon Johnson and Chadwick Walton cushioning the blow of two quick wickets with a 68-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Cape Town - New Cape Cobras signing Sunil Narine says it will be a big challenge to test himself in South African conditions.
The Cobras on Tuesday announced that the star West Indian spinner will be playing for them in the Ram Slam T20, starting in January 2014.
The 25-year-old currently plays for Trinidad & Tobago in the Champions League Twenty20 in India. He took 2/23 in four overs when Trinidad & Tobago beat the Titans on the Duckworth/Lewis method in Ahmedabad on Monday.
Narine was also the star for the West Indies when they won last year's T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka when he took 3/9 in the final to stun the hosts.

A resurgent Trinidad and Tobago will face an uphill task of taming a rampaging Chennai Super Kings in order to book a semifinal berth when they clash in their Champions League Twenty20 encounter here on Wednesday.
The Caribbean side, which finished runners up in 2009, faces their toughest test in the league so far against the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led unit which has already sealed its spot in the final four.
The T&T side was blessed by a Duckworth-Lewis win over Titans yesterday to put their campaign back on track after they were blown away by Thisara Perera of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the earlier match.
