Denesh Ramdin has 2,898 runs in Tests at an average of 25.87
West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman and former captain, Denesh Ramdin is disappointed yet positive about his exclusion from the side for Test series against India. Ramdin recently hinted his exclusion via tweet saying that the newly appointed selection panel’s Chairman and former West Indies player Courtney Browne thinks that his average is not good enough. He was also asked by Browne to participate in West Indies’ premier four-day competition to earn a place in the side. The Test series kicks off on July 21 at Antigua. Ramdin has 2,121 runs in ODIs, which is highest for a wicketkeeper-batsman for West Indies. He also has 2,898 runs in Tests which is only second to Jeff Dujon who has 3,322 runs. Ramdin told Cricbuzz, ”I haven’t felt any pressure for the last three or four years,” Ramdin told a Jamaican radio station on Friday (July 8). “I felt a bit surprised, but I have no choice but to live by the decision of the higher authority. I don’t own cricket, and, well, I have to go back to my game in the regional four day-set up and come again. It seems like I’m not a senior player who has done well over the years. However, I’ve been down that road before and come back and done very well, so I think the process is easy.”

Chris Gayle went from hero to zero as Veerasammy Permaul spun Guyana Amazon Warriors to a seven-wicket win against Jamaica Tallawahs in a Caribbean Premier League cricket match in Georgetown on Thursday.
Gayle, who scored a blazing 108 against in the previous match, was out first ball, lbw to Pakistan seamer Sohail Tanvir. Permaul and Tanvir took five wickets between them as Jamaica were all out for 100.
Left-arm spinner Permaul, who took a career-best 3 for 20, struck twice in as many balls and the big wicket of Kumar Sangakkara broke the back of Jamaica. Rovman Powell (38) and Shakib Al Hasan (25) were Jamaica's main scorers

THERE are early indications that there will be at least one major change to the West Indies squad named to play India in a four Test-match series in the Caribbean starting later this month.
The first Test is set for Antigua from July 21 to 25.West Indies wicketkeeper-batsman Denesh Ramdin was indicating on social media yesterday that he is being dropped for the upcoming series.
He did not make mention of who would be replacing him.
According to the 31-year-old Trinidadian, who has played 74 Tests for the West Indies, the recently appointed Chairman of Selectors Courtney Browne, himself a former West Indies wicketkeeper, has indicated that Ramdin will not be selected as his Test average of 25.87 is simply not good enough.
“What a rainy day, lil heads up for shotta80 fans wouldn’t be playing in Test series vs India. New chairman says my average isn’t good,” Ramdin posted on his Twitter account.
He immediately went on the offensive attacking the chairman of selectors about his career playing for the West Indies.

GEORGETOWN, Guyana – History will be created, when all six territorial boards of the West Indies Cricket Board will be represented for the first time ever in the Regional Women’s Tournament which opens tomorrow here.
For the first time ever, Leeward Islands will field a squad in a regional women’s tournament and Windward Islands will play as a single unit alongside defending champions Barbados, five-time winners Jamaica, multi-time champions Trinidad & Tobago and hosts Guyana.
This will be the second change to the format for the Regional Women’s Tournament in as many seasons, having moved from an eight-team league with no Leewards and the four nations that form the Windwards playing as individual teams to last year when the Windwards played in two groups, North and South, along with the Barbadians, Jamaicans, T&T and Guyanese.
“We want to welcome Leewards Women into the fold and are looking forward to them playing a valuable role in the expansion of the women’s game in the region,” said Josina Luke, WICB project officer for women’s cricket.
“We have spent the last year working with the Leewards in the development of this squad, following a decision by our directors to have them involved this year, so this is another step towards strengthening the base of the women’s game in the region and expanding our talent pool.
“The banding together of the talents of the Windwards Women helps us to streamline our tournaments and bring greater competitiveness to the overall women’s game, as the ultimate aim is to create a stronger West Indies Women’s team with a view to winning more global titles.”

It’s is final! The third Test of the West Indies versus Pakistan series later this year will be played in Dubai and both boards have decided that it will take the format of day/night.
It was reported that the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) had agreed that they will play one of the three Tests in the series that gets underway in September as a day/night affair. Guardian Media has been informed that it will be the third Test and the dates are now being finalised.
The West Indies cricket team has never played a day/night Test before and the players have limited experience in negotiating the pink ball.
The match should prove to be a challenge for the regional outfit and recently coach Phil Simmons mentioned that: “It’s going to be hard for us because we have not played enough day night cricket down here to test the ball and to know what happens in the night.
“The players have told me it was good from a crowd point of view but a lot of them say that there are a number of things that need to be fixed.”
