ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board announced today it has appointed three official United Kingdom tour operators for the England One-day International Tour of the Caribbean next February/March.
International Cricket Tours, Howzat Travel and Sports Tours Plus have been licensed as exclusive commercial travel providers.
Commercial Manager of the WICB Nelecia Yeates said the Official UK Tour Operators will offer attractive travel packages which include premium tickets for the series and travellers from the UK should take advantage.
She noted that the Official UK Tour Operators will have the right to sell tickets only, since there will be no online ticket sales for the series until February 2017.
“Since the tour dates and venues were announced, there has been keen interest in the series from fans in the United Kingdom,” said Commercial Manager of the WICB Nelecia Yeates.
“We know the value of the connection between the game, the Caribbean, and West Indies and English fans in the UK, so we are more than happy to ensure these fans can coordinate their travel arrangements and come share the excitement with us.”
Yeates said the tour companies were all experienced organisers of trips to the Caribbean, so fans should take the opportunity to partner with them for a unique experience.
BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe (CMC) — West Indies captain Jason Holder has conceded that the reason his team has failed to win its last two matches of the current Tri-Nation series in the final over of the chase, is because of “inexperience”.
Holder was speaking to reporters after West Indies lost to Sri Lanka by one run in a nail biting fifth game at Queen’s Club yesterday.
Evin Lewis, with just a handful of internationals under his name, struck a counter-attacking maiden ODI century to give West Indies more than just a sniff in their attempt to gun down a 300-plus chase for the first time in ODIs. Carlos Brathwaite and Jason Holder then came up with sprightly cameos to take West Indies to within 24 of Sri Lanka's 330 for 7. Then, in a mirror image of Saturday's collapse that resulted in a tie, West Indies stumbled, this time to a one-run loss triggered by panic and poor shot selection.
The result meant Sri Lanka were assured of a berth in Sunday's final, while West Indies and Zimbabwe will play a virtual semi-final on Friday to earn the right to meet Sri Lanka at the same venue. A tie or no-result would knock Zimbabwe out and ensure West Indies' qualification.
West Indies were in control until the last five overs of their chase. Carlos Brathwaite and Holder put together 45 for the seventh wicket, before Nuwan Kulasekara delivered an inswinging yorker that beat Brathwaite and hit middle stump. Suranga Lakmal then took over, bowling full and taking out Ashley Nurse in the next over. Suddenly, West Indies, who were cruising for most parts of the chase, needed 19 off 10 balls.
ICC Press Release:Following consideration of written submissions from both the PCB and the BCCI, the ICC Technical Committee has ruled that the India Women’s team is deemed to have forfeited each of the three matches it was due to play against Pakistan in Round 6 of the ICC Women’s Championship, and that the associated points should be awarded to Pakistan.
This decision means that there will be no change to the current standings on the ICC Women’s Championship Points Table, with India remaining in fifth position and Pakistan remaining in seventh position.
The teams that have automatically qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup, to be played in England from 26 June 2017 to 23 July 2017 are Australia, England, New Zealand and the West Indies, while India, South Africa, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will join Bangladesh, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Thailand in the Women’s World Cup Qualifier, to be played in Sri Lanka from 7-21 February 2017, where the top four placed teams will progress to the Women’s World Cup.
Harmanpreet Kaur's half-century went in vain as West Indies eked out a 15-run victory over India to complete a 3-0 sweep of the T20I series. Opting to bat, West Indies scored a modest 139 for four from their allotted 20 overs but managed to restrict India to 124 for three. Chasing 140, India lost their top-order cheaply to be reeling at 32 for three in 5.5 overs with opener VR Vanitha getting run out for a duck, followed by Meghna Singh (19) and Smriti Mandhana (6) -- both of whom were dismissed in the Powerplay.
