The St Lucia Stars opener fell victim to arguably one of the worst lbw decisions ever, when he was hit outside the line of off stump, while gloving a reverse-sweep. Instead of supporting Imran Tahir's appeal, wicketkeeper Luke Ronchi set off after the ball that trickled behind point. Perhaps he knew it would be missing the stumps, but umpire Nigel Dungid raised his finger to leave Warner stunned and Tahir wheeling away in celebration.

In that same game at Providence, Guyana Amazon Warriors wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Ronchi was also adjudged lbw, when umpire Dungid erred again. Ronchi missed a pull against a short arm ball from left-arm spinner Mark Chapman, and copped it on the thigh. Though the ball seemed to be heading down leg, Dungid thought otherwise, and Ronchi was on his way.
Jamaica Tallawahs are top of the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after beating Barbados Tridents by five wickets at the Kensington Oval to make it five wins from eight.
The Tridents slumped to 55/5 against a fine all-round bowling performance from the Tallawahs, spearheaded by the superb Oshane Thomas, before Martin Guptill, Imran Khan and Ashley Nurse engineered a recovery to take the final score to 151/9.
But that total was soon put in perspective by a swashbuckling 28-ball half-century for Tallawahs opener Johnson Charles. Although the Tallawahs’ innings slowed down for a while after his departure for 53 time was on their side and, despite a couple of alarms, they always appeared to have the chase in hand.
The arrival of David Miller to the crease after Kennar Lewis fell for 8 saw a fresh injection of impetus as he dispatched Nurse for six then four in successive deliveries.
Rovman Powell got in on the act, heaving two sixes and a four into the leg-side in the 14th over from Mohammad Irfan to take the required rate down to just a run a ball for the final six overs.
The 15th over moved the game forward significantly for both sides as a snorter from Wahab Riaz flicked Miller’s glove on its way through to Nicholas Pooran before Andre Russell was run out four balls later. In between, Russell launched his first ball for six over square-leg and added a four to fine-leg from a free-hit.
ST JOHN’S, Antigua – WINDIES Men will be in India for almost seven weeks starting September 26. They will compete against India in 2 Tests, 5 ODIs and 3 T20s.
West Indies and India have played 94 Tests against each other since 1948. West Indies has won 30, lost 28 and drawn 46 matches.

Imran Tahir’s four-wicket burst and Sohail Tanvir’s late fireworks with the bat saw Guyana Amazon Warriors to a thrilling four-wicket Caribbean Premier League (CPL) victory over St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at Warner Park.
A fourth win in six leaves the Warriors well-placed at the head of the Hero CPL table, alongside Trinbago Knight Riders and Jamaica Tallawahs on eight points.
An all-round batting effort in which six men reached double-figures but nobody made more than Tanvir’s 37 not out saw the Warriors overhaul the Patriots’ 168/7 in the final over as the home side were left to rue a wayward bowling performance that gave up 19 extras – 15 of which were wides.
Luke Ronchi got the run-chase off to a brisk start with 28 from 16 balls but wickets fell at regular intervals and for much of the innings the Warriors appeared to be behind the pace as Carlos Brathwaite and Mahmudullah produced tight spells and Ben Cutting grabbed one of the catches of the season with a flying one-handed grab on the boundary to remove the dangerous Cameron Delport.
The penultimate over delivered by Sheldon Cottrell proved the key as Tanvir started and finished it with big Hero Maximums over the leg-side to leave the Warriors needing just three more runs from the final over.
Despite a couple of nervy dot balls Tanvir and Chris Green scrambled the three singles they needed to get over the line with a ball to spare.
ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – The Selection Panel of Cricket West Indies has announced a 14-member WINDIES “B” squad for the Cricket Canada Summerfest from Wednesday, August 29 to September 7.
The team will play a series to include four T20s (including a warm-up) along with two 50-overs matches. A WINDIES B Team was in Canada a few months ago and was a beaten finalist in the inaugural Global T20. Anthony Bramble was also the captain of the team.
Fresh from an exciting 102 runs from 58 balls, Kimani Melius, the leading run-scorer for the Under 19 Championship now on in St Vincent is part of the squad for this 9-day tournament.
