Barbados cricket has a three-point plan

Barbados cricket has a three-point plan of regaining regional supremacy in next month’s NAGICO Super50 Cup in Trinidad & Tobago.

That plan, as outlined by the Barbados Cricket Association’s director of coaching Henderson Springer, is to continue net sessions with the support of bowlers from the BDF Sports Programme and other youth players, get in on-field scenarios as well as game simulations and to play some warm-up matches against the Combined Colleges and Campuses.

Bridgetown, Barbados, January 9 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Barbadians Anthony Alleyne and Kyle Hope hit unbeaten fifties in a third-wicket century partnership as Hope's XI beat Steven Jacobs' XI by eight wickets in a rain-affected first Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) one-day trial match at 3Ws Oval on Wednesday.

And based on performances in the match and information reaching BCAcricket.org, Barbadians again look set to take the lion share of places in the CCC squad for the WICB NAGICO Super50 championship in Trinidad & Tobago from January 30 to February 16.

Didn’t the West Indies Cricket Board elect a new president?

The old master - 'Maas George' – George Headley established a technique that would serve him well throughout his illustrious career, and as a consequence, it brought him lots of runs. It was simply, "see the ball early, but play the shot late."

The not so newly elected West Indies Cricket Board president Mr. Dave Cameron has now been in office for well over 100 days. And in cricket parlance, he should now be seeing the ball "big." If he's not seeing it, then this might mean that the new ball has been taken, and that he's now "sniffing leather". Because, in back-to-back Test series against India and New Zealand, that's exactly what his charges on the field have been doing.

For those two tours, the big media houses – the biggest and most dedicated – ESPNCricinfo, and the slighter lesser, and probably less globally read Jamaica Gleaner, Jamaica Observer, the Trinidad Express and the Trinidad Guardian, have all been upping their ante as to what has been going on both on and off the West Indies cricket field. Media houses these days, especially the virtual ones, have a real-time feed back system. In that a writer, through the 'comments' section, can get instantaneous feedback as to whether he or ser, is making sense, or nonsense. And if one perused those 'comments' feedback-loops for the aforementioned news outlets when articles on West Indies cricket are published, one gets the distinct impression, by the lack of disagreement and dissent, that those writers critical of West Indies cricket – both its administration and its players – are right on cue.

Injury rules Pollard out Super50 series

West Indies all rounder Keiron Pollard will not represent T&T in the upcoming Regional Super50 tournament because he is still recovering from an ankle injury. This was revealed by chairman of the national selection panel Alec Burns. The former fast bowler was speaking on the Monday Night Cricket Show on WinTv.  He said Pollard was not yet fully fit and cannot be rushed back to cricket. “We will not have the services of Keiron Pollard because of his injury. A player like Pollard not being there is a big blow but we cannot look to rush the player back into action after his injury.”
