Quickly fading light, donkey drops from both ends now after the umpires were fiddling around with the dreaded light meter.

Stumps, Day One:

Bangladesh close on 69/2 after 30 overs of play were possible due to the wet outfield. West Indies took a pair of early wickets reducing the tourists to 10/2 but then managed to forget the basics dropping several catches. Shadman, brought back into the side, remains unbeaten on 50 overnight. Roach has 2/20.

England beat New Zealand convincingly on paper however the difference between the sides was dropped catches.
Brook made 175 but was dropped 5 times and most of them dollies.
Fear this game could go the same way.

It seems like only da Silva was doing the catching yesterday...three catches went down on the first day.

Roach to Shahadat Hossain, FOUR, shot! Overpitched delivery this time at 133.4kph and shaping in on off, Shahadat Hossain leans ahead and presents the full face of the bat. Drives it nicely through mid-on to find the fence

38.4
Shamar Joseph to Shahadat Hossain, out Bowled!! The change in bowling does the trick! The persistent lines and lengths in and around off from the Windies bowlers finally brings the reward. This one is a pacy length delivery on middle and off, perhaps it straightens a bit after pitching, Shahadat Hossain is caught in the crease and plays down the wrong line and his defence is breached. Gets beaten on the outside edge and the ball shatters into the top of off. Brilliant piece of bowling from Shamar Joseph. It angled in initially and did just enough to bamboozle Shahadat Hossain

Shahadat Hossain b Shamar Joseph 22(89) [4s-2]

Jayden Seales to Litton Das, out Caught by Kavem Hodge!! Litton Das's tentative short stay at the crease comes to an end. Jayden Seales gets a well-deserved wicket after bowling so tight. He keeps it nice and full outside off, it does a bit in the air as it swings away, Litton Das pushes at it flat-footed and only manages to get a healthy outside edge. It's dying on Hodge

Shamar Joseph to Shadman Islam, FOUR, edged but safe! The plan almost works. Full and well outside off, Shadman Islam is drawn into and expansive drive. It flies off the bottom edge. Third slip who is stationed a bit wide crouches but it falls in front of him and beats him

Shamar Joseph to Jaker Ali, out Caught by Joshua Da Silva!! Shamar Joseph's pace has got the better of Jaker Ali! He kept on generating good pace and on this occasion, he has outfoxed Jaker Ali. He bowls a sharp short ball at 138.1kph and it's well-directed as well. Jaker Ali tries to move inside the line and tries to help the pull away but his top hand hardly moves while he attempts the shot. Ends up getting a top-edge which goes onto deflect off his left shoulder and lobs behind. A simple catch for Joshua Da Silva and Shamar Joseph has a beaming smile on his face. Brilliant passage of play for the Windies.

Can't help noticing that the pitch as no appreciable bounce; that is
expected as it has not been 'baked' with all the rain was about during
preparation.

So why are the slip fielders standing so far away and the wicket keeper taking most
balls at ankle height...these fast medium bowlers are not hitting 140ks regularly if
it all.

44.1
Shamar Joseph to Shadman Islam, out Caught by Joshua Da Silva!! Edged and gone! Shamar Joseph is on fire at Sabina Park! Fuller than a good length, angled into the channel from around the wicket, and Shadman is reluctant to get forward because of the pace of Shamar. His front foot barely moves in defence and he's undone as the ball straightens a touch against the angle. Gets a clear edge and it's another catch for Joshua Da Silva. What a spell this is.

Shadman Islam c Joshua Da Silva b Shamar Joseph 64(137) [4s-5 6s-1]
