Kent have signed West Indies batsman Brendan Nash as their overseas player for the 2012 season. Nash, the 34-year-old Australia-born left-hander, played the last of his 21 Tests in June 2011 and is expected to be available for Kent's entire campaign.
Despite dropping out of the West Indies side after a run of modest form - Nash was dismissed for single-digit scores five times in his final six Test innings - he has continued to prosper for Jamaica and has made two double-centuries for them in his last ten first-class innings. He is also seen as a positive, calm and experienced influence on and off the pitch and was previously West Indies vice-captain.

Xavier Doherty enjoyed his first taste of cricket in the West Indies, playing a key role in Australia's 64-run victory in the first ODI in St Vincent. After the debutant George Bailey top scored in Australia's 204 for 8, a total that was difficult to assess at the halfway point on a sluggish pitch, West Indies capitulated to be all out for 140, and their failure was all the more disappointing for the self-inflicted nature of several of the dismissals.

Enthusiastic all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been named vice captain of the West Indies team for the upcoming Digicel One-Day International Series against Australia.
The 28-year-old replaced wicketkeeper/batsman Denesh Ramdin, who suffered a fractured right thumb and was replaced in the 13-man squad by Carlton Baugh. The elder Bravo is known for his energy and dynamism. He said he was thrilled to be back in the team and will do all he can to drive the team towards success in the upcoming matches.

Carlton Baugh's 140 in the first innings proved decisive as Jamaica beat Trinidad & Tobago by 192 runs in a low-scoring match at Queen's Park Oval, and maintained their dominant position at the top of the Regional Four-Day Competition table. Baugh only played the first two days of the match, after which he was called up to the West Indies one-day squad due to an injury to Denesh Ramdin. He had already had a huge impact on the match, though, with his century rescuing Jamaica from 84 for 6 in the first innings, and accounting for almost half Jamaica's first-innings total of 290.
