The Antigua Hawksbills were fighting to keep themselves alive in the Caribbean Premier League 2013. The Guyana Amazon Warriors needed 16 off the final over, in a chase of 167. On came Devon Thomas, who had never bowled in Twenty20 cricket prior to this tournament and was yet to bowl in the match. He was duly taken for 19, Mohammad Hafeez playing the hero for Guyana with a little help from Sunil Narine.

Watching Shivnarine Chanderpaul coming out to bat for the first time can be a treat in itself. The walk to the wicket is the perfect antithesis of Viv Richards; if Richards’s body language reflected an aura of domination and confidence, Chanderpaul’s is full of an unmistakable nothingness. It could well have been a person walking back home from a grocery with dreadful chores like having to cook and doing dishes later that evening playing on your mind.
He takes those steps to the crease for what seems like an eternity; takes guard; removes a bail and nails it to the ground with the handle of the bat with the meticulous diligence of a sculptor; then he stands up and gets his gathers his apparently clumsy self together.
It is now that you notice the black anti-glare stickers under his eyes; if you have very, very good eyesight you will notice the word Mueller written on them; had it been legible it would probably have been a great way of advertising. All that is quite singular, but it is absolutely nothing compared to what is to follow.

North Sound, Antigua - Persistent rainfall handed the St Lucia Zouks a 17-run victory over the Antigua Hawksbills, ultimately keeping their Limacol Caribbean Premier League campaign alive.
Had the last ten overs of the match been played out though, the Zouks looked firm favourites to record a victory.
The night started out with the visitors needing nothing short of a win to stay alive. They did themselves a big favour by posting the highest score of the tournament, getting to 179/4 from their 20 overs. The Zouks’ main contributor was Andre Fletcher, who struck 76 runs from 53 balls.
The Zouks then proceeded to put the Hawkbills on the back foot early on with the ball. It didn’t look like that after Johnson Charles pummelled Garey Mathurin for three consecutive boundaries in the first over. But then Mathurin struck back with his wicket the next ball.

Kingston, Jamaica - Christopher Barnwell came up trumps with a superb last over to help the Guyana Amazon Warriors defeat the Jamaica Tallawahs by five runs.
But the path to the Warriors’ victory was paved well before Barnwell’s first over, which was the last of the game. Ideally, it was a scrap to the finish just as the match suggested it would be.
A win for either team would have virtually guaranteed them a spot in the top four and ultimately the semi-finals. The Tallawahs won the toss and asked the Amazon Warriors to bat first on Thursday afternoon in their first home game.
The pitch played quite slow and batsmen couldn’t hit through the line of the ball. As a result, the Warriors limped to 139/6 from their 20 overs. It was down to a quick knock from James Franklin that propelled the Warriors’ innings.
