Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has announced his participation in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), becoming the first international player to be involved in the newly formed T20 league. The CPL is scheduled to begin July 29, and will run till August 26. It will involve six franchise countries: Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago.

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Off-spinner Shane Shillingford snatched a six-wicket haul as West Indies crushed Zimbabwe by nine wickets inside three days here Wednesday, to post their fifth consecutive Test victory for the first time in 25 years.
The tall right-armer, playing his first Test in nearly a year, picked up six for 49 as Zimbabwe, resuming the day on 41 for three, were bundled out for a paltry 107 just before lunch at Kensington Oval.
Following on from his three first innings wickets, Shillingford finished with match figures of nine for 107.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has finalised payments to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) under its Targeted Assistance and Performance Programme (TAPP), with WICB awarded $US 3 million and ZC awarded $US 1.5 million.
