St John’s, Antigua – President of the West Indies Cricket Board, Mr. Dave Cameron has pledged the assistance of the regional governing body towards the setting up of a permanent secretariat for the Leeward Islands Cricket Association (LICA).
Speaking at the LICA 100th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Award Ceremony at the Grand Royal Antiguan Resort on Saturday evening last, Cameron said: “The WICB is prepared and willing to assist with the setting up of a permanent secretariat for LICA here in Antigua.”
Former West Indies fast bowler, Michael Holding, has remained steadfast in his position that there will be no real change in West Indies cricket even with the election of a new president of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
Dave Cameron, 42, a vice-president of the board for six years, defeated incumbent Dr Julian Hunte 7-5 to win the presidency two weeks ago at the WICB's annual general meeting in Barbados.
ESPNcricinfo is reporting that Pakistan's tour of the West Indies in 2013 is in serious jeopardy, after both boards failed to find a suitable window for the tour. Pakistan were originally scheduled to play two Tests, five ODIs and two Twenty20s in the Caribbean in June and July, but ESPNcricinfo understands that the tour is unlikely to go ahead.
