Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) president, Jackie Hendriks has taken "full responsibility" for not "properly guiding" West Indies opener Chris Gayle prior to his ill-starred decision to play in a festive double wicket competition instead of representing Jamaica in the final of the regional Carib Beer Series, nearly two months ago.
Barbadian off-spinner Ryan Hurley will miss Friday's sixth ODI match against Australia in Grenada because of a shoulder injury. His place in the final eleven will be taken by pacer Vasbert Drakes.
Hurley hurt the shoulder while diving to take a fine catch in the last game but was ruled unfit for Game Six, which shifts to the Queen's Park Stadium in Grenada. Hometown boy Devon Smith will be the 12th man for this game.
Guyanese fast bowler Reon King has clinched a deal to play for Northerns in South Africa's ultra-competitive domestic first class competitions.
King, who is playing league cricket in Durham, will be the overseas professional for Northerns Cricket Union's Nashua Titans for the 2003-04 cricket season. He is expected to arrive at SuperSport Park during September, in time for the Titans pre-season programmes.
Barbadian left-hander Floyd Reifer has been named to lead a Shell Cricket Academy team to play a limited-overs practice match against Sri Lanka on June 4.
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) said Reifer will lead a 12-man squad to play the game, scheduled for the Queen's Park Stadium in Grenada. The team also includes first class cricketers Narsingh Deonarine, Kerry Jeremy, Kurt Wilkinson and Dwayne Bravo.

Grenada is determined to have a party despite the state of the series ? but it is further buoyed by Sunday's West Indies belated win in Trinidad and Tobago. Officials have given schools a day-off and have asked employers to allow every worker which shows they have a ticket the time off to go to the game on Friday.
