Young West Indies fast bowlers Fidel Edwards and Jerome Taylor
should sit out this year's Red Stripe Bowl limited-overs tournament
and concentrate on "putting some muscles on those bones."
That's the advice from WICB-certified fast bowling coach Kenny
Benjamin who believes it is not in the long-term interest of the
West Indies team for the two hotshot fast bowling prospects to
interrupt their strength and conditioning program to play in a
limited overs tournament.
Now, more than ever, with a young team in reconstruction and
showing the benefit of having a coach and a captain who recognise
what is most needed to blossom, with the World Cup demanding first
world efficiency and organisation, the West Indies Cricket Board
must be effectively and efficiently run.
It must do everything possible to prepare the best team and to
put on a show that will redound to the good name of West
Indies.
West Indies fast bowling all-rounder Vasbert Drakes is set to
replace Virender Sehwag at Leicestershire for the remainder of the
English County season, according to a BBC report.
Drakes, who has previously played for Sussex, Nottinghamshire
and Warwickshire, is expected to sign a contract with the
Leicestershire Foxes "within the next 24 hours."

The organizing committee of the recently inaugurated Ed Ahmad
New York Caribbean Cricket Cup has take a very strong stand against
misconduct by several players who violated the agreed upon "rules
of engagement and codes of conduct" in the tournament.
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) will recommend that
Jamaican fast bowler Jermaine Lawson skip the Red Stripe Bowl until
the work on fixing his suspect bowling action is complete.
The WICB has contracted biomechanics/human movement expert Dr
Paul Hurrion to conduct tests on Lawson's bowling action, in
compliance with ICC specifications and, once those tests are done,
the board will push for the 21-year-old to skip the regional
limited overs tournament and be fully fit in time for the West
Indies tour of Zimbabwe.
