Twenty-year old Dwayne Smith slammed a brilliant unbeaten 92 to lead Barbados to an eight-wicket rout of Guyana in a must-win Red Stripe Bowl game at the Antigua Recreation Ground (ARG).
The right-handed Smith was in a devastating mood, slamming nine sixes and three fours as Barbados raced to 194 for two off just 34.4 overs. Earlier, Guyana struggled to 191 for nice against incisive fast bowling by the fired up Bajans.
Former West Indies fast bowler Kenny Benjamin has been appointed interim assistant coach for the senior team tours to Zimbabwe and South Africa later this year.
At the request of head coach Gus Logie, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) endorsed the appointment of Benjamin to accompany the senior team on the upcoming tours as part of a specific plan to offer specialist coaching to the young crop of fast bowlers.

The Trinidadian Ramdin hit eleven fours in an unbeaten 77 as the Under-19s reached the target of 166 for three from just 33.4 overs. Fudadin's undefeated 53 lent support as the Young West Indies side bounced back from a miserable showing against Antigua.
Led by a fine all-round effort by off-spinner Anthony Lake, Antigua and Barbuda completed a stunning three-wicket upset win over defending Red Stripe Bowl champions Barbados at the Antigua Recreation Ground on Sunday.
Batting first, Barbados struggled to 184 all out from 48.4 overs with Lake (2-31), Curtis Robers (2-19), Earl Waldron (2-29) and Kerry Jeremy (2-43) doing the damage. In reply, the home side reached 186 for seven in the 48th over to pull off the upset.
Led by a fine all-round effort by vice-captain Ramnaresh Sarwan, Guyana brushed aside the University of the West Indies (UWI) to secure a 114-run Red Stripe Bowl win at the Antigua Recreation Ground.
Sarwan slammed a superb 91 as Guyana racked up 258 for six from from overs. Sewnarine Chattergoon (54) and skipper Shiv Chanderpaul (47) were the main supporters.
