13 West Indians in ICC Hall of Fame

Thirteen of the greatest West Indian cricketers have been recognised as initial inductees into the new ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame, launched in partnership with FICA as part of the ICC centenary celebrations, includes these legendary Caribbean cricketers: Garfield Sobers, Frank Worrell, Everton Weekes, Clyde Walcott, George Headley, Malcolm Marshall, Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards, Michael Holding, Rohan Kanhai, Andy Roberts, Lance Gibbs and Gordon Greenidge.

Windies confident of starting 2009 on a high

The West Indies are confident of making a winning start to 2009 when they face New Zealand in the second One-Day International at AMI Stadium, Christchurch on Saturday. The first match at Queenstown was rained off after 35.4 overs.

Windies skipper Chris Gayle said his side was feeling upbeat and urged the players to be bold in their approach when they take the field in the day/night encounter. First ball is at 2 pm (Friday at 9 pm Eastern Caribbean Time/8 pm Jamaica Time).
