Eight West Indians in IPL auction

Eight West Indians are among the 112 overseas cricketers who will be considered for the Indian Premier League's (IPL) second auction in Goa, India, on February 6.

The West Indian cricketers named are Sylvester Joseph, Darren Sammy, Andre Fletcher, Kieron Pollard, Kieran Powell, Fidel Edwards, Dwayne Smith and Kemar Roach.

Lewis withdraws Windwards captaincy resignation

Rawl Lewis will continue as captain of the Windward Islands team after an emergency meeting organised by the region's cricket board managed to resolve differences between him and team manager Lockhart Sebastien.

Lewis had announced his resignation on January 26 after Windward's 166-run loss to Trinidad and Tobago in the regional four-day competition.

Barath: 'We had to really battle'

The West Indies “A” Team had an excellent first day against England in their three-day match at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. Opening batsman Adrian Barath made a patient 132 off 231 balls and Lendl Simmons was 171 not out off 240 balls as the young Windies side reached 343-2, at the end of the day.

Simmons was unbeaten on 171 from 240 balls with 19 fours and five sixes. He added 262 for the second wicket with Barath.

Khan to manage all Windies teams

Trinidad and Tobago's Omar Khan has been appointed manager of all West Indies teams. Khan, who recently came back from New Zealand as manager of the senior team, is now in charge of the West Indies 'A' team, West Indies Under-19, West Indies Under-15 and any team representing the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

The West Indies senior team takes priority but once available, Khan will be the first choice to manage all other teams.

ICC reduces TV review appeals for WI/Eng series

The ICC has confirmed that the ongoing trial of the umpire decision review system will afford each side two unsuccessful reviews per innings rather than the three that have been available up to now.

The change to the playing conditions of the trial has been made after receiving initial feedback from players and match officials and will apply to the upcoming Test series between the West Indies and England. If it proves to be a successful modification in the first two Tests of that series, it will also be introduced for the final series to be used in the trial, namely Australia’s tour to South Africa.
