It was also great to see Iraq beating Ukraine 2-1.

In the men's judo, Ashley McKenzie (Jca) won his first round bout.

Unfortunately, he lost in the round of 16 to his Turkish opponent.

Not as far as I can see, from the team in the opening post....

Unless she's a reserve for the relay.

Argentina beat Iraq 3-1 to make that group open up.

Ukraine playing Morocco now....

On the 72nd Anniversary of Jamaica winning 4x4 gold and setting a WR we could not field An Olympic 4×4 squad. Franco is right that the reason is stupidity but it is stupidity borne of arrogance

Maybe there is some truth to Oral Tracy claim that she is about to switch nationality!

When did they change the medal table from quality of medal to the number of medals won? I see China with 5 gold medals and USA on 3 but USA head the table.

It depends which medal table you look at. The Americans always count the number of medals, regardless of colour. But the rest of the world, including the IOC, places more emphasis on the quality of the medals.

Japan now leads the medal table

Flora Duffy (Bermuda) put up a good fight in defence of her women's triathlon Olympic title, but the run proved a bridge too far....

Gold - Cassandre Beaugrand (France) 1:54.55
Silver - Julie Derron (Switz) 1:55.01
Bronze - Beth Potter (GB) 1:55.16

5) Flora Duffy (Ber) 1:56.53

Per the Jamaica gleaner, Sherika pulled out of the 100m. Only doing the 200. Clearly there was more to that injury when she pulled up a few weeks ago

You do recall me earlier in this discussion string saying they needed backups for the 4 x 100.

I don’t know. From social media pictures, it appears that Alania Reid is in Paris. She would work. They could also use the hurdler Akera Nugent or the 200m lady Lanae Thomas. Apparently they told Kemba she would have to pay her way. I guess if they call her up they would have to pay.

The Jaaa is incredible. Shericka was hurt 3 weeks ago. Shelly has been running with a knee brace. Not sure why you wouldn’t proactively bring reinforcements

I have never heard of a olympics that had so many complaints . from a drag queen parade ,to trannies boxing biological females .countries being forced to fly in personal chefs because the food provided to them is plant based standard not suited for high level athletes who need more protein .no ac in hotels some experimental green technology is being used. Cardboard beds in athletes village wtf?

France had to prove it is a leader in progressive policies but it fell flat and had the opposite effect
