A who’s who of West Indies cricket luminaries will visit South Florida in January to participate in a friendly match and charity banquet.
Former West Indies cricket star Lawrence Rowe – a South Florida resident for 30 years – is one of the organizers of the event, which will feature legends such as Brian Lara, Sir Garfield Sobers, Lance Gibbs, Clive Lloyd, Andy Roberts, Gordon Greenidge and Courtney Walsh.

With Kensington Oval unavailable for the home side’s WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) second round clash against the Jamaican Franchise starting on Friday, head coach of the Barbados Pride, Henderson Springer strongly believes hosting the match at the Windward Cricket Club could give his team a notable advantage.
Springer told Barbados Today that while Jamaica would not be familiar with conditions at the Lucas Street, St Philip ground, several players in the Barbados squad would have played there in recent times.
ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Former Antigua and Leeward Islands cricket captain, Wilden “Polo” Cornwall, believes cricket within the sub-region needs to be rebuilt and that the injection of new blood into the squad is one way of putting the game back on track.
Cornwall’s statement comes following the team’s innings and 10-run defeat at the hands of Guyana Jaguars in the WICB Regional 4-Day competition within three days on Sunday.
The former batsman, who has applied for the Leeward’s coaching job, said should he be given the role, he would seek to “make changes.”
DURBAN, South Africa (CMC) — West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard hit an unbeaten half-century and snatched a brace of wickets in the final over, to propel Cape Cobras to a narrow four-win victory over the Darren Sammy-led Titans in the South Africa Ram Slam Twenty20 League here Sunday.
Sent in at Kingsmead, Cape Cobras rallied to 169 for six from their 20 overs, with Pollard smashing 56 not out off 29 balls with three fours and four sixes.
Dane Vilas chipped in with 32 and Omphile Ramela, 31.
Bridgetown, Barbados, November 18 - (www.bcacricket.org) - Experienced West Indies left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn has been included in the 13-man Barbados squad for their second round match against Jamaica in the WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) Championship at the Windward Club ground, Lucas Street, St. Philip, November 21-24.
Benn missed the drawn rain-hit match against Trinidad & Tobago in Port-of-Spain because of a niggling injury.
