President and chief executive officer of the Trinidad and Tobago
Cricket Board of Control, Alloy Lequay, has accused ailing West
Indies batting star, Brian Lara of turning his back on local
cricket.
The ageing Lequay stated that when Lara contracted the "mystery"
illness in Sri Lanka earlier this year during the ICC Champions
Trophy tournament, the local board offered him assistance.

Former West Indies Test player Phil Simmons will serve as coach
of the Trinidad and Tobago Senior cricket team for the 2003 First
Class season.
Simmons, who served as national coach for the past two seasons,
will be confirmed today by the T&T Cricket Board of Control
(T&TCBC).

West Indies star batsman Brian Lara is expected to join his
colleagues in Bangladesh for the two-match Test series later this
month in Dhaka.

The international careers of Vincentian fast bowler Nixon McLean
and Barbadian batsmen Floyd Reifer have been given new life by the
West Indies selectors, who named the duo in a 30-man squad to
prepare for next year's World Cup tournament in South Africa.
McLean and Reifer were among a group that also included
newcomers Devon Smith, Suliemann Benn and Ian Bradshaw. Also
recalled were pacers Reon King and Kerry Jeremy.
