SYLHET, Bangladesh – West Indies Women made a winning start to their World Twenty20 campaign when they beat England by nine runs in their Group B encounter here Monday.
Defending 133 for seven at the Sylhet Stadium, West Indies restricted England to 124 for nine, with medium pacer Deandra Dottin snatching four for 12 from four outstanding overs.
England seemed to be en route to victory at 80 for two in the 12th over until Dottin intervened. She knocked over captain Charlotte Edwards for 44 off 37 balls, in a devastating spell that saw England lost five wickets for 17 runs in quick time.
Requiring 18 from the last over, England got a four from the first ball but then lost two wickets, as any hopes of victory disappeared.

West Indies have been in Bangladesh for a week, but they still looked jetlagged in a bizarre innings of 129 for 7, which set up another comprehensive win for India, who were excellent with the ball. From the moment Bhuvneshwar Kumar surprised Dwayne Smith with a first over full of outswingers, West Indies sleepwalked through most of their innings, failing to make India pay for some sloppy fielding. India will be only mildly annoyed with that because of the stupendous work done by their bowlers.

Barbados crush T&T by an innings and 160 runs
Bridgetown, Barbados, March 23 - (www.bcacrricket.org) - Defending champions Barbados crushed Trinidad & Tobago by an innings and 160 runs - 40 minutes before tea on the third day of their fourth round WICB first-class match at Kensington Oval here today.
Following on with a deficit of 359 and starting the day on 44 without loss, Trinidad & Tobago, were bowled out for 199 in 67.5 overs in their second innings.
Ja, Windwards in tense battle for victory
An interesting battle looms on today's final day of the WICB Four-Day Championship clash between Jamaica and Windward Islands at Sabina Park.
Set 254 to win, the Windwards closed yesterday on 31 without loss, with openers Devon Smith and Tyrone Theopile not out on 15 runs each.
This means with a minimum of 90 overs to be bowled, the Windwards require 223 runs to win with all 10 second-innings wickets intact.
Jamaica had earlier made 194 in their first innings, to which the Windwards replied with 216.
Walton ton gives CCC edge over Guyana
Bridgetown, Barbados - Chadwick Walton picked up where Shacaya Thomas left off, stroking his third First Class century, to help the Combined Campuses and Colleges stay on top on Day 3.
Veerasammy Permaul gave Guyana the ideal start to Day 3 getting rid of both Thomas and Steven Jacobs in quick succession. Overnight, Thomas was unbeaten on 161 but he could only add 16 runs before being trapped Leg Before Wicket.

Having arrived a good 30 minutes ahead of schedule for his press conference, Darren Sammy waited patiently for the journalists, out of shape and panting after hurriedly clambering down three levels, to catch their breath and settle down. Suddenly, he discovered the pleasures of a swivel chair, going round and round in circles and repeatedly saying. ‘This is nice’.
Sammy and a smile are constant companions. He is blessed with the ability to find humour in every situation, an endearing trait that is distinctly Caribbean, and which must not be mistaken for a lack of competitive intent.
As the Q&A session got underway, someone asked the West Indies captain, “You seem very relaxed, do you think India are easy opponents tomorrow?” For a fleeting second, the smile left the Sammy face as he struggled to make sense of that query. Then, he grinned broadly and countered, “You seriously asked that question?”
