President of Cricket West Indies (CWI) Ricky Skerritt could find himself before the Justice Winston Anderson-chaired CWI Ethics Committee after a report was submitted to the body accusing him of breaches of the CWI Code of Ethics as well as a violation of the memorandum of association.
The Gleaner has been reliably informed that Justice Anderson received a report in the form of a complaint from one of the CWI directors last week, outlining several issues tantamount to breaches of CWI’s Code of Ethics, stemming from the now-controversial PKF consultants Business Situation Assessment and Financial Report.
Contents of the complaint report, which was obtained by The Gleaner, state that Skerritt violated Article 102 of the memorandum of association, allegedly “entering into a contractual engagement with PKF without the prior knowledge, approval, or authorization of the CWI board of directors.”
Shamarh Brooks and Shane Dowrich scored half-centuries on the final day of the three-day warm-up match on Thursday, to taste form ahead of the opening match of the #RaiseTheBat Test Series against England. Both batsmen failed in the first innings but capitalized the second time around, Brooks stroking an unbeaten 66 and Dowrich, an unbeaten 56, in Kraigg Brathwaite XI’s second innings.

Left-handed opener Shane Moseley then impressed with an attractive 83 not out in the drawn encounter at Old Trafford. Brathwaite’s XI resumed the day on 99-3 but suffered an immediate setback when Roston Chase perished to the day’s third delivery, lbw to pacer Shannon Gabriel, without adding to his overnight four. However, Brooks and Dowrich came together in an unbroken 131-run, fifth-wicket stand to steer their side out of difficulty.
Raymon Reifer took five wickets to highlight the second day of the three-day warm-up as West Indies continue their Sandals Tour of England. The left-arm seamer showed great control of line and length as he ended with 5-60 off 13 overs at the Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday. These excellent figures included a magical spell after lunch when he took all five wickets for just 12 runs from 11 balls.
“I was trying to hit the top of off stump and create problems for the batsman. I’ve played here in England before on the last tour (2017). I didn’t play a Test match but I played a few warm-up matches so I learned a few things and used them to my advantage today,” said Reifer, who played his only Test match in New Zealand in December 2017.
London (AFP) - West Indies coach Phil Simmons had no qualms over the fitness of Jason Holder after the captain played a restricted role on the final day of his side's first warm-up match ahead of next month's Test series against England.
Holder led one team in a drawn intra-squad three-day game against Kraigg Brathwaite's XI at Old Trafford.
But the Barbados paceman did not bowl on Thursday, although he was in the field on all three days, and on Wednesday he was lbw to Raymon Reifer for a golden duck.
Holder did not push himself up the order to get a bat on Thursday as the game ended in a draw, Brathwaite declaring 313 runs ahead before the Test skipper's side finished on 149 for three.
But Simmons expects Holder to play a full part in next week's second internal warm-up game as the West Indies continue their preparations in the run-up to the first Test at Southampton starting on July 8 -- a match that will mark international cricket's return from lockdown.
CHRIS Gayle’s decision to opt-out of this year’s Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament is being viewed as a major blow to the “biggest party in sport.”
The talismanic Jamaican batsman decided to pull out from the August 18 to September 10 tourney citing personal reasons, just one day before the official CPL draft. He was scheduled to represent St. Lucia Zouks after a fallout with Jamaica Tallawahs following the 2019 season.
On Monday, Gayle communicated to the club that he has been unable to spend time with his family over the past few months due to regional travel restrictions courtesy coronavirus.
Throughout this duration, Gayle has been stuck in Jamaica while his family remains grounded in St Kitts. St Lucia Zouks has also confirmed Gayle’s omission.
“Chris Gayle brings everything that’s needed to a cricket match, Fun, fury, fire, flair. He will be sorely missed,” said the TKR administrator.
