Dyson: We will rise to challenge

Head coach of the West Indies cricket team, John Dyson, has described the upcoming Digicel Cricket Series 2008 as "hugely important" and added that his players will be up to the challenge" of facing Sri Lanka.

Speaking after arriving in Guyana, ahead of the first Digicel Test Match, Dyson noted that the series (two Tests and three One-Day Internationals), should present the players with opportunities to showcase their skills and play together as a unit.

Collins says no to Windies selection

Left-arm fast bowler Pedro Collins has withdrawn from the West Indies squad for the home series against Sri Lanka because of what he calls "prior contractual commitments."

Collins, picked in the West Indies squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka in Guyana, inked a two-year Kolpak deal with Surrey last October.

Jayawardene: We can't underestimate the Windies

On playing only two Test matches and three ODIs and whether it is a bit too short:

It is. Ideally we'd have loved to play three Test matches I think we've been trying to advocate that for a while but it's going to be an exciting tour. I'm looking forward to it, we've got some youngsters coming through the set up now so it's going to be a very good experience for those guys and West Indies is a very good side so we're definitely looking forward to the challenge.
