World Cup 2007 Surplus: US$54 million

The audited report of the ICC Cricket World Cup West Indies 2007 Inc. (CWC 2007) shows that the tournament had an overall surplus of US$53.9 million, believed to be the highest event surplus in the history of the Cricket World Cup.

Of this amount, US$29.3 million was paid out to the Local Organizing Committees on behalf of the Governments of the Caribbean as of December 2006. The WICB will also be further sharing 25% of its portion (US24.6 million) of the profits with the territorial cricket boards.

Lawson gets Leicestershire (Kolpak) deal

Jamaica fast bowler Jermaine Lawson has inked a deal to play for Leistershire this summer.

The 26-year-old paceman, who has faced scrutiny over his controversial bowling action, has been signed a Kolpak player, where as "a citizen of a country with an associate agreement" with the European Union he has the same rights as a European worker and does not count as an overseas player.
