In form all-rounder Gareth Breese produced another tight
three-wicket haul to give Cup champions Jamaica control against
Trinidad and Tobago on the opening day of their Busta International
Shield semi-final at Sabina Park today.
Trinidad and Tobago, sent to bat, were an unsteady 200 for eight at
stumps, with Dinanath Ramnarine not out on nine and Mukesh Persad
on two.
A fine unbroken fifth-wicket partnership of 87 in 119 minutes
between opener Sewnarine Chattergoon (92 not out) and captain Carl
Hooper (52 not out) saved Guyana some blushes on the opening day of
their semifinal clash against the Leeward Islands at Albion on
Friday.
At the end of an absorbing day?s play, Guyana, who are seeking to
advance to their second consecutive Busta International Shield
final, were 230 for four.

Injury embattled Guyanese fast bowler Reon King has reacted with
disappointment to the news of not being selected as part of the
training camp from which the West Indies squad will be selected to
face India in the Cable & Wireless 2002 series starting in
April.
Speaking with CaribbeanCricket.com from Albion where he is
preparing to play in the semi-finals of the Busta Shield
competition, King said: "Obviously I'm a bit disappointed but
that's behind me now."
Leon Garrick, Reon King, Neil McGarrell and Sherwyn Campbell
were among the notable names missing from the 22-man squad named to
participate in a training camp in preparation of the Test series
against India, according to WICB insiders.
Garrick, who scored 452 runs (ave 45.20) in this year's Busta Cup
action, was left out as the selectors went with the hot bat of
Leeward openers Stuart Williams (722 runs, avg 72.20) and Devon
Smith (750 runs, avg 62.50) to challenge Darren Ganga for the
opening spot in the Test team.
