Nominations in for new WICB president

Veteran St Lucian politician/diplomat, businessman and cricket administrator Julian Hunte is the only nominee to replace Ken Gordon as president of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

Hunte, who previously served on the board of directors of Cricket World Cup 2007, is expected to be voted in formally at the WICB's AGM in Trinidad & Tobago next month-end.

'I agree with everything Gayle said'

It has been yet another troubling week for West Indies cricket.

The West Indies Cricket Board have reacted quite angrily to comments Chris Gayle made in the media last week, in which he took a swipe at the board over their apparent reluctance to appoint him as one-day captain after his nomination by the selectors. He also criticised the delayed arrival of the limited-overs specialists, which meant that they missed crucial warm-up games.

Gayle: I will 'stand up' to WICB

West Indies captain Chris Gayle says he will "stand up" to the WICB's attempt to censure him for a diary entry that criticised the board's mismanagement of the U.K. tour.

"When I am wrong, I am wrong and when I am right I just have to accept the task ahead and deal with it as a man and face whatever consequences if there are going to be any or anything like that. I am always ready for anything," Gayle said in a Q&A session with reporters ahead of the first 20/20 game against England.

Good riddance to Ken Gordon

Like a failed renovator, Ken Gordon will apparently be walking away from the mess he made at the end of next month. The Trinidadian businessman's disastrous term as President of the WICB ends next month, and sources say that mercifully, he will not seek re-election.

Unfortunately, it may well be too late for West Indies cricket. Since taking over from his predecessor Teddy Griffith, things went from bad to horribly worse in a hurry.
