Sri Lanka's champion bowler Muttiah Muralitharan said today he
found West Indian star Brian Lara a more difficult batsman than
India's Sachin Tendulkar.
Left-handed Lara was the only batsman to solve the Muralitharan
puzzle during the recent West Indies tour of Sri Lanka, aggregating
688 runs in the three Tests.
Guyanese cricket fans would remember the 2001 Busta Cup series
with bitter sweet memories. The record breaking batting feats of
captain Carl Hooper and the general allround brilliance of the
national team were accomplishments to celebrate.
However, if being edged out for the title in both the Busta Cup and
Busta Shield competitions were disappointments, the manner in which
Guyana was denied any silverware, was difficult for many fans to
take.
After successfully negotiating a shift of Pakistan tour to the
United Arab Emirates (Sharjah), the West Indies Cricket Board
released the itinerary for the two-Test series.
The Caribbean team arrives in the UAE on January 27. The first Test
starts on January 31. The two teams will also three one-day

A review of the unusually high injury record of the senior West
Indies team is one of the key items on the agenda for Saturday's
board of directors' meeting of the West Indies Cricket Board at the
Jolly Beach Hotel in St. John's, Antigua.
The fitness of the side has been brought into question after the
heavy casualty lists sustained on the visits to Zimbabwe and Sri
Lanka last year, and many Windies Cricket fans have expressed great
concern.
