Seales not intimidated by subcontinent conditions

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka (CMC) — Rookie seamer Jayden Seales says the subcontinent conditions for the upcoming two-Test series will not force a curb in his enthusiasm, and plans to keep an open mind as he fine-tunes his preparation for the assignment.

The 20-year-old is on his first overseas tour after making an impressive debut earlier this year against South Africa as a 19-year-old and has so far taken 16 wickets from four Tests at an average of 21.

With the dry conditions here known to present challenges for faster bowlers, Seales said his aim was to make a quick adjustment while continuing to give 100 percent.

“Personally, I'm not too sure [what to expect] because it's the first time I'm playing down here,” said the Trinidadian.

“I will just have to assess the conditions as [best] as I can and bowl to the best of my ability when wanted for the team, and do as best as I can.”

West Indies Women clean sweep ODI series against Pakistan Women

KARACHI, Pakistan- West Indies Women defeated Pakistan Women by six wickets to clean sweep the Cool & Cool One Day International series 3-0. Sent into bat first, Pakistan Women posted 225/7 from their 50 overs. Stafanie Taylor played a captain's knock of 102 not out, supported by Chedean Nation with 51 not out, as West Indies Women reached their target of 226/4 from 44 overs.

Stafanie Taylor was pleased with the team's overall performance and welcomed the series results ahead of the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. Taylor said "I think this is huge... seeing that we were coming off a (series) defeat to South Africa and to come here and win 3-0, we haven't done that in a while and it's really nice that we can do that and get ourselves match ready."

Chanderpaul appointed batting consultant for the West Indies Rising Stars U19s

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) today announced that West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul will join the West Indies Rising Stars U19s squad as the batting consultant for the upcoming High-Performance Camp in Antigua as part of the West Indies Rising Stars U19s preparations for the ICC U19s Cricket World Cup to be hosted in the Caribbean in January and February 2022.

Chanderpaul, who had an outstanding international career, is the most capped player in West Indies Test history. He played 164 matches and made 11,867 runs at an average of 51.37. He is the newest member of the coaching staff, headed by Head Coach Floyd Reifer, and will be part of this preparation period, which runs from November 15 to 28 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Jimmy Adams, CWI’s Director of Cricket said: “We want to welcome Shivnarine Chanderpaul to the Rising Stars U19s group and we look forward to him working with our young players at this critical stage in their development pathway. Shiv has a tremendous amount of cricketing knowledge and know-how and he will be a great addition to the coaching staff. We already have another icon of the game in Sir Curtly Ambrose, who has been involved with the squad since the camp in August, as well as several other outstanding coaches.”
