Batting greats Lara and Sarwan to work with West Indies batsman during camp ahead of Test Series against India

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Two former West Indies captains will join the team’s preparation ahead of the upcoming MyTeam11 Test Series against India. Brian Lara, one of the greatest batsmen of all-time, and Ramnaresh Sarwan, who was one the leading players of his generation, will be part of the pre-series camp to be held in Antigua ahead of the first Test match against India.

They will share their immense knowledge, experience and expertise with the members of the 13-member squad ahead of the MyTeam11 Series, which is co-sponsored by Skoda and KEI. West Indies and India will play two Tests – from August 22 to 26 at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in North Sound, Antigua; and from August 30 to September 3 at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica. 

Jimmy Adams, Cricket West Indies’ (CWI) Director of Cricket, was grateful to Lara and Sarwan for coming on board and offering their time to interact with the young batsmen as they get ready for this crucial two-match series – which will signal the start of the new ICC World Test Championship (WTC) for both teams.

West Indies caught in limbo

Caribbean fans are yet to wake up from the nightmare that was the 2019 Cricket World Cup. And with the alarm being muffled by the growing number of questions that seem to accompany each WINDIES game, we will remain in this subconscious state for a while longer. Only two games were completed in the MyTeam 11 three-match One-Day International series between the West Indies and India, both resulting in convincing 59-run and 6-wicket victories for the visiting team. Jason Holder is still on the hunt for his first ever series win as limited overs captain. And as West Indian fans, we might be tired and no doubt embarrassed, but what we should be is-scared. Scared, as many of the underlying issues surrounding West Indies Cricket seem to be cultural.

West Indies’ “WINDIES CRICKET” YouTube channel surpasses one million subscribers

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua- Cricket West Indies (CWI) is excited to announce that the “WINDIES Cricket” YouTube page has reached one million subscribers, just 14 months after its relaunch.

In June 2019, CWI and Little Dot Studios joined forces to relaunch the channel when subscribers numbered just 560. Since then, the YouTube channel has become a primary source of match highlights, live streamed matches and player content for West Indies fans around the world.

The move to increase the availability and accessibility of West Indies, Super50, and West Indies Championship content is a key part of Cricket West Indies five-year strategic plan for West Indies fans and cricket fans in the Caribbean.
