BASSETERRE, St. Kitts– Jamaica Scorpions off-spinner Jamie Merchant has been reported for a suspect bowling action during his side’s game against Canada last Saturday in the Colonial Medical Insurance Super50 Cup.
Cricket West Indies has confirmed that Merchant’s action was cited by match officials after he bowled his allotted 10 overs for figures of 0-33 during the game at Warner Park, which the Scorpions won by four wickets.
CWI will now arrange for an Opinion Report of the bowling action of the 30-year-old Merchant from an Independent Assessor, but he is permitted to continue bowling until the results of the assessment are known.
Video footage from the game will be sent to Loughborough University in the United Kingdom for an Opinion Report in accordance with the CWI Regulations for Dealing with Suspected Illegal Bowling Actions.

PROVIDENCE, Guyana- India completed a 5-0 T20 International series win over the West Indies Women after they won the final T20I by 61 runs at the National Stadium in Guyana.
India won the toss for the first time in this five-match T20I series and chose to bat first. The West Indies women bowlers started off their innings with tight bowling, which resulted in Hayley Matthews taking a brilliant return catch to dismiss Shafali Verma for 9. Next was the dangerous Smriti Mandhana who captained the team in place of Harmanpreet Kaur for this last match, she was out by her opposite number Anisa Mohammed for 7.
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – Led by Nkrumah Bonner’s fourth List A hundred and a career-best spell from Jamie Merchant, Jamaica Scorpions intensified their bid for a place in the semi-finals of the Colonial Medical Insurance Super50 Cup, when they beat Barbados Pride by 26 runs on Wednesday.
Bonner struck a run-a-ball 112 from that included nine fours and three sixes and shared a record fifth wicket stand of 151 with his captain Rovman Powell to lead the Scorpions to 331 for nine from their allocation of 50 overs in a Group A game at the Conaree Cricket Centre.
Merchant followed up with 4-35 from his allotted 10 overs to run through the Pride top order and fortify the Scorpions hold on the game, after openers Leniko Boucher and Kjorn Ottley gave the Pride a sound start to their chase.
The result meant the Scorpions gained four points, moving them to 16, drawing them level on points with Leeward Islands Hurricanes, but they remain third because of the tie-breaker rules, which give the group hosts the edge.
